If you haven't changed the oil and filter in your transmission for a long time, this could be the problem. Over time, the filter plugs up just from normal wear, and the pressure drops in your transmission, because it is harder for the oil to go through the clogged filter. Dirty oil is also more likely to make valves in the transmission stick or slow to move, which, again, is worse in cold weather. You should change both the oil and filter, and when you do, dump the oil into a clean container so that you can see if there is anything other than fine material from normal wear in the pan.
