The indicator lights and the neutral safety switch are the same sensor, if one does not work the niether will the other. The mode switch in the transmission needs to be checked and the easiest way to do this is with a scan tool.Seems so simple, i cant imagine why the dealer would not have looked at this.I dont understand why they would install a new computer for a no start condition.

Testimonial: "will have the dealer check the trans sensor. they first said that was the problem but then changed their mind. thanks for the opinion carr740"

Try unplugging the neutral safety swich pigtail and with the key on short the starter across the terminals and see if it starts or at meat turns over. Sounds like a bad ground going to the starter.

2005 DODGECARAVAN.when conected to OEM the car starts and imidiately dies, and the head lights come on and wont turn them of, is there a way to fix this or do I need a new OEM comp.

OEM is not a specific part. It means original equipment manufacturer. Are you referring to your PCM/ECM? That is the main computer/control module. Is your battery fully charged and charging system working properly? Have you installed any after market equipment or accessories? Automotive electronics can do all sorts of strange stuff when there is a power (battery voltage) problem. A faulty relay is also a possibility.

Changed battery terminals cause van wouldn't start now starts and dinging bell wont stop unless warning light fuse is removed. What to do?

  • Is light switch off and key removed and in "off" position.Worn ignition key switch due to much weight on keyring may damage switch, allowing key to be removed when switch not fully in "off" position.

What is the red warning light on dashboard of 2005 dodge caravan?

it is the immobilizer indicator ( red light far right hand corner of dash) it usally means that key is not communicating with computer , try another key ? or if your battery went dead this could cause communacation failure? check your ground to battery and then leave battery disconnected for a few hours , and if there is someone who can scan for codes and wright down any that are there and then clear codes, it can also just be a computer failure that has triggered that light.

Caravan won't start after shifter cable replaced

Make sure the transmission range selector switch is adjusted correctly it is the switch just below the shift cable post. Also try to start it in Neutral rather than park position.

My 2005 caravan won't start. When I turn the key I hear a clicking sound but it doesn't start. It worked fine earliar today. The battery is fine for now.

Possible causes are: 1. Loose or corroded battery cables. 2. Bad starter 3. Dead battery. Try tapping on the starter with a hammer while someone is holding the key in the start position. If it starts then replace the starter. Thanks

2004 Dodge Caravan with 3.3 ltr eng. Won't start,

This sounds like a classic bad connection either at the battery or engine ground. Check and recheck all your connections and be sure they are clean and tight.

Cannot start 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan

No preferences as to charger, as long as it has trickle charge option (slower, but better for battery). Would like to see battery load test done by parts store to see battery condition, but a simple charge may be it. Let me know how it goes, hopefully you will have it up and running soon.
