Hi I have a mazda mx5 mk3 from the UK and I am looking to change my headlights in order for me to register my car in France. I need to change the full headlight assembly and was wondering if you could give me a guide on how to do it as I am under the impression that I will need to take of the bumper to get to the screws for the headlight units. Thanks

To get to the headlight assembly on a MX-5 mk3 or mk3.5 or NC. You do need to remove the front bumper.... To do this there is ten 8mm bolts underneath the bumper that also holds a plastic cover underneath the engine . There's two 10mm bolts hiddden behind blanking caps on the front grille, you need to lever the blanking caps off with a screw driver. Open up the bonnet and here is eight 10mm bolts on top of the bumper. Then you need to turn the front wheels to one side, remove the fragile plastic clips that hold the wheel arch liner in place (these clips are so fragile you may need to replace them afterwards) to find three 10mm bolts inside each wheel arch, the bolts are situated on the side towards the front of the car and quite high up, all I'm going to say is "good luck trying to get these bolts!" You will need is a ratchet, 8mm socket, 10mm socket, long extension bar for ratchet to get the bolts on the grille, philips screwdriver and flat bladed screwdriver for the wheel arch liners, a 10mm ratchet spanner is handy for the wheel arch bolts.

Not for export they don't. Anyone looking to export their car, which is required for, amongst other things, insurance, needs to get new headlights. This is especially an issue for British Forces Germany. Has anyone got a real answer?

Mazda mx5 will not start after flat battery battery now charged but soon as turn the ignition on the alarm goes off and will not start

Hi,
You need to reset the alarm. If it's a Stock/original alarm, read the Owner's Manual or call a Mazda dealer. If it's not stock, you'll need to ID the alarm and look online for the instructions.

If your keyless remote fob has a Mazda label on it and is the ONLY one you have it's probably stock; if it's not a labeled Mazda, look for another name to find the alarm type.

I have a blocked rain duct that is causing water to leak into the passenger foot well of my Mk3 Mazda mx5. Anybody got any instructions on how to clean all rain ducts, (expecially front) without having to...

Unsure about later models however on the early ones, look under the car where the sill is welded to the floor there is a lip hanging down ( where you put the jack ) . If you look along the join you will see slight rearward facing bumps in the panel pressings. These are the drains. Using a nail or piece of wire you can clear these ( make sure your sleves are rolled up to keep them from getting wet)
These are rear only , I suspect the water is coming from the back and running forward.
Good luck Marshall

1990 mazda miata mx5 headlights wont pop up

There's a 30-amp fuse for the headlamps - check that first. Under the hood on the passenger side. Right next to it is a relay that drives the headlights.

I need to change the lights on my mazda mx5 first reg july 2005 to left hand as i now live in france?

Buy a new pair of headlights from a French Motor Factor or from your nearest Mazda dealer and just swap them over. Then go to a garage to get the headlight beams correctly adjusted. Voila!

If you want specific instructions, then you'll need diagrams which are not available online for copyright reasons, but Haynes publish the correct manual which you can either buy new or get secondhand from online suppliers like ebay and Amazon.
