They are correct ,actually this should have been done at 60k, im sure they are referring to the drive belts ,if you are getting this done at the dealer they will use genuine mitsu parts ,but if you take it to an independent garage make sure they use OE compatiable ,quality parts mitsu can be picking about the parts you put in them , esp. trans fluid MUST BE mitsu SP3 !!!!!! and spark plugs must be denso or ngk plugs only no bosch!! or youll be doing again

2004 mitsubishi outlander waterpump/timing belt issue.

If you know about timing belt driven water pumps.. you know that you have to reset your timing on the engine. If you think you can. Tear it down.. replace the pump. And go onto the internet and find that engine and ask for timing marks.. reset them.. and all will be fine.. hope this helps.

Dodge stratus 6 cyl 2005 not sure of engine size. I only want to advise my daughter on what she should do about replacing her water pump. Car seemed to be running fine but was losing coolant. Car was found...

It is common practice to replace the water pump when replacing the water pump also. If the timing belt has recently been replaced than it would not be necessary to replace it again. If the belt is original than it makes perfect sense to replace it when the water pump is replaced as the timing belt will need to be removed in order to replace the water pump. There is no additional labor coast just the additional parts cost of the timing belt.

When it is done you shouldn't have to worry about it for the next 100,000 miles or so.

If you don't replace it when you have the water pump replaced than down the road when the timing belt is due for service you will have to pay for all the labor costs again to replace the water pump.

I have a 2005 Audi A6 with @ 100,000 miles on it. My dealer is recommending that I replace the timimg belt and the quote for the job is $1500 to $2000 which will include a new water pump. There is...

On these vehicles, the timing belt is recommended at 90K!! I recommend replacing the T-belt and water pump at the same time. The water pump is timing belt driven, and if it fails, you would be paying for another Timing belt service!! YOU WILL NOT experience drive-ability issues because the belt is aged or has not been serviced at its recommended intervals. Instead, if the belt fails, your engine will fail, and will require replacement or rebuilt ($3500+ job). Find a less expensive reliable shop thats experienced in EURO vehicles, and stay away from the dealer!!

Does the water pump also have to be replaced when the timing belt is replaced at 60,000 miles on an 05 Tucson?

NO .but its a good idea to replace it as half the work already done when they change the timing belt {i will be having mine done this sept {2011} also worth changing the auxiliary belt too that's the drive belt that you can see on the left of the engine that drives all the devices like the AC and water pump a water pump should cost around 70 pounds and timing belt 100 and aux belt 60 pounds work from a none franchised dealer like halfords service centre about 200 for there work go to a main dealer and take out a second mortgage!

I need to replace the timing belt and is there one belt or two? I am thinking about doing it myself.

there is only one belt but you need to be able to raise and lower the engine without using the oil pan and if you DONT get it done correctly you will be buying pistons or valves, if it has more than 100000 miles might as well do water pump also

Timing belt in a 2005 hyundai replacement

You should find another dealer. Hyundai recommends replacing the belt every 60,000 miles and this dealer knows this. No reason at all to replace it at 42,093 miles. Remember that this is an interference engine so if the belt breaks serious engine damage will occur. Do not neglect this service at 60,000 miles.

TOOK 2003 TO DEALER TO DO TIMING BELT.REP SAYS I NEEDED WATER PUMP ALSO.TOLD HIM I NEVER NOTICED COOLANT IN DRIVEWAY.HE SAYS IT WASN`T LEAKING BUT THAT COOLANT WAS SEEPING OUT.COULD IT JUST HAVE BEEMN...

Well it is a good idea to do the water pump and the balancer belt and the same time since you have the timing belt off anyway. BUT. It sounds like you were WAY overcharged. They should have only added like 30 dollars for the balancer belt. I would guess this total job at about 500 to 600

At what mileage should I change the timing belt on a 2004 Mitsubishi Outlander. Thanks Sherry

It is suggested by any mechcanic to perform this maintenace every 80,000 miles if you properbly maintain your vehicle. That mean going by the owners manual suggestions. Also I would highly recomend changing the water pum as well for it runs off this belt and water pumps only last as long as the belt will also. If a new belt is installed without a new water pump it may fail in no time. I seen it happen more than a dozen times in the past ten years

Complete cost to replace the water pump a8 2005?

Depends on where you go. A dealer is going to charge you through the nose. An independent shop will be somewhat less. I'd recommend you do the whole timing belt service though - the water pump's replacement schedule is along with the t-belt, tensioner, serpentine, etc.

If you're in the northeast US, reply here with an email address and we can talk. I do Audi servicing out of my own garage and can likely beat the indie shop's prices (and the dealer for sure) since I don't have the overhead of a shop:)

Does the Corolla 2003 model have a timming belt or chain?Does the water pump has to be changed at 70K miles? Thanks. Adrian

Adrian,

Until 2002 Toyota's had a timing belt. After 2002, Toyota's have a timing chain. Manufacturer/dealers recommend replacement of the timing chain at about 90,000 miles. I've talked to several mechanics - including the dealer - about the cost of changing out the chain. The lowest price I found from a very reputable mechanic is $260-270. He told me that if I brought in the part, he'd reduce the cost. The dealership was almost double!

Re: water pump: I haven't found anything that stated it must be changed at 70K miles. Hope this was helpful.
