5 w30 is what you should be using and 1/2 qt every 600 miles is about avg.

try substituting a qy of Lucas engine oil treatment on your next oil treatment. This will allow less friction on the motor and elimanate burning oil

Known issue in SRX. Insufficient relief from the OEM EGR valve causes excessive back pressure in the crankcase and oil loss. Do a Google search or Youtube for 3.6L EGR valve modification. (Remove EGR and drill out the relief holes a little bigger. Wash with good solvent and re-install).

Loses qt of oil per week. No leak shows underneath car and does not smoke

It can easily burn that much in a 100 miles without seeing any smoke.
If you check the spark plugs you may find evidence.
It can also leak while the engine is running and not when it is off. Most Northstar engines leak to some degree.

Oil comsumption 2008 sierra

If the oil consumption is no more than 1 quart every 1000 miles it is considered normal. if not you need the engine leak down tested and valve seals evaluated for wear as well as the valve guides. Also make sure the PCV system is working correctly.

How much oil should my 2007 SRX use between oil changes it only has 23,000 miles on it now?????????????????????

Oil consumed between oil changes (assuming 2,500 miles) should be between 0 and 1 quart, for a healthy engine.
More oil consumption is annoying, but not viewed as an issue by manufacturers, in fact most would not do anything until you exceeded a quart in 600 miles (I would be livid!!!), but that is how they think of it.

All that being so, the cost of repair far outweighs the cost of the oil, so to rebuild for oil consumption is often not cost effective. Personally, I would go mental at more that a quart between oil changes.

What is considered normal oil consumption?

No more than 1 quart between oil changes ... usually about 3000 miles under most circumstances.

My 2008 Tribeca also uses excessive oil

That is surprising and I'm sorry to read of your troubles. We have an 05 Legacy 2.5i with 68k+ miles and plugging along good so far......

I don't know what state you're in but there should be a lemon law applicable to the problem you're having. You're obviously under 3yr/36k manufacturer warranty. If I were you I'd formally request repair of the problem and not accept test/diagnosis without action. Sounds like you're getting a run around......

Using to much oil a 2002 accent with 76k. uses about a quart every 1k miles. dop i need to adjust the valves?

That's within acceptable limits according to Hyundai Motor America's standard: For a proper diagnosis, the amount of oil consumed over a known mileage should be checked three times and then averaged. The accumulated mileage divided by the total amount of oil added will give the consumption rate in miles per quart. If the oil consumption rate is greater than 1 quart per each 1000 miles, further diagnosis may be required.

Oil disappearing with no visible leaks and engine not using oil.

Check out this thread and take your Caddy for a couple of Wide Open Throttle runs on the Interstate. Clears out the carbon buildup on the rings that is causing oil blowby.
