How do I "pop" the locking mechanism on the inside of the door so the door will latch close? The mechanism was accidentially push so now the door will not hook on to the metal loop bar to remain shut.

The rod from the handles to the lock mechanism could have come off or become bent to the point that it won't work the latch anymore. The prior problems were probably just symptoms of the problem you have now. Will have to take the door panel off and manually trip the latch.
sounds like the door latch mechanism is stuck in the closed position. if you pull on the door handle and use something like a screw driver and pull the latch claws open the door should work. the latch is the part that closes around the door striker plate bolt to keep the door closed. lube the latch to help keep it from sticking again.
Has nothing to do with the electric lock opperation.A spring is off on the ratchet gear inside the latch.Have a mechanic fix this,it is literall a pain in the butt to even get to.Let alone replace or repair it.Good luck Brother.
Not to my knowledge. The mechanism you talk about is the wiring inside the door if it has electric locks. The only way is to remove the top of the door panel to access the door latch mechanism then slide it away from the latch. If that don't work let me know
Drivers side door will not close because, it might have dropped out of alignment and is sagging down slightly!!! or if it has electric door locks, and someone in the family has failed to mention door locks were activated while that one door was still open!!! now lock mechanism has passed it's normal stopping place and is now stuck, therefore already locked and not allowing door to close all the way!! you might try disconnecting battery then try jiggling the lock, and hope silenoid didn't get burned out, open passenger door and look at lock latch, then check drivers side lock latch!!! if your lucky lock latch should unlock when battery is hooked back up. i have seen this problems happen often on older vehicles!!! especially on cars or trucks that have been in fender benders.........body shops know what to check for, they fix problems like this often!!!!! Good luck!!
