You might have a sticking valve body or a bad 1 2 actuator. The whistling sound sounds like airiation or air getting into the fld system or pump of transmission. That might also be that the filter fell out and its not getting the fld it needs. If it is valve body sticking, try lube guard additive. even if it isn't, that stuff works really good at protecting and helping your trans.

This is just a guess but the whistling sound you desribe suggests a vacuum leak,such as a split line.If a break is not obvious,lightly spraying the suspect line with ether with the engine running will cause the rpms to go up when you are in the area of the break.Good luck

Is the actuator hard to replace or do you have to pull the whole trans out and apart? Also, before I do it, is there a way to test it?
