If the transmission just quit pulling then most likely the pump drive splines in the torque converter are stripped.The is a very common problem from 99 to 03.You will at least need to replace the torque converter and the fron seal.You may have other wear issues inside the transmission depending on how many miles are on the car and could need to rebuild transmission as well.The torque converter is the piece that connects the transmission to the engine and allows slippage at lower speeds.The transmission will need to be removed to replace this part.Good Luck!
This is exactely what my 2003 ford taurus did. What am I looking at as far as price? On average, how much does something like this cost to repair?
Price will vary in different parts of the country depending on labor rates and overhead expenses.I live in north georgia and you would probaly be looking at 800 to replace the torque converter and 2000 to rebuild the transmission, these are parts and labor prices.Let me know if i can help.
