It seems that while my envoy is in park it will register the actual fuel amount but as I drive, it slowly falls to E... I thought it could be the gas cap but it will still register actual fuel amount without a cap on while in park. Any suggestions?
SOURCE: 2006 envoy gas gage
your gas gauge sensor is most likley the problem on alot of new cars they measure your fuel off an average of were your float is at. like if your not moving it stays in one spot but as you move the float moves and reads the lowest amout that it is averaging and if your float keeps reading low your going to read that you have alot less gas than you really do. have you tried filling the tank all the way and see what it does? if it stays at full until you use some gas and your float starts moving your gas gauge will probley go down in that case its the fuel sensor if this dont help let me know and ill c what i can find out for you

I purchased my 2006 Envoy a little over two years ago, I thought that someone was stealing my gas. It would work when I filled it up and then over night when starting the engine I would notice that I was on empty. How could this be , someone must be sneaking up my driveway and taking my gas. Of course I angry gas prices are now 4 dollars per gallon, so i go to fill up again and could only get 2 gallons in, that's when I thought it must be the gas gauge sensor. My faith in humanity restored, but I am now angry with GMC, how could this happen, and I know they are going to want hundreds if not thousands of dollars to fix something that should not during the life of car should have never needed fixing.
My gas gage failed and the dealer would not wornenty the problem. I ended up spending about $550.00 without looking at my receipt and spent an additional $135.00 to get towed and some other related problems assoicated with it. I hadn't even reached my wornenty expiration yet but I was close. I have a Chevy 1500 work truck. I was pizzed!
Replaced gas cap and gas cap light still comes on 2006 envoy
