The window crank is held in place by a locking clip. Remove the clip and pull the crank off the shaft. If the crank is stripped, just replace it. If the shaft is stripped, you have to replace the entire window regulator. See this post on how to remove a window crank.
Had the same issue with our 1999 chevy astro van, would crank but would not start. It had been raining and windshield had a leak, after 2 days of no rain it started. Pulled codes and was the Security system in the ignition switch. Hope this helps.
The crank sensor is inside the distributor and may also be called an HEI pickup. Disconnect wiring harness and remove the two tork head screws and lift out. Now would be a good time to replace the rotor & distributor cap if you haven't done so lately. I hope this helps.
The gear crank inside the window has skipped some teeth - pull the crank out and start over - that is all it can be from the way they are made - pull the gear out and just shove the window to the top - if it goes all the way to the top then you know the crank skipped like a chain on a bike - reset it and you should be good to go.
crank shaft sen. is easy enough to change.its mounted near timing chain cover, cam sen.is somewhat harder, its in the distributor,id doubt that both are defect
