Not sure of the year of your vehicle but as far as just disconnecting the battery it may or may not work. As I said I'm not sure of the year which makes the computer system diffrerent depemding on the year. I will tell you this. I am in the business and have been for 25 plus years and the computer programming software I have just for General Motors most likely cost me around 3 thousand. That's just the software and doesn't include the cost of the computer itself that the software has to be loaded in to. The computer was around 5 grand. So just for General Motor products you are looking at about 8 grand. Then every year there are updates which cost as well for the newer models. I am the last person to stick up for any shop because most of them are rip offs but you have to understand our costs to be able to work on these computers that are put in vehicles today. I would not have charged you 100 of course because the dealers are the worst rip offs but please understand our position and why there are charges for programming. I didn't even mention the software costs for the Fords, Chrysler and Asain models and don't let me even get into the cost of the European vehicles. I answer questions for free on here just so people don't get ripped off cause I hate seeing it happen. In the future, feel free to email me directty at
[email protected] if you ever have a repair qustion and I will be happy to try and help and yes it would be at no cost.
