1996 Kia Sephia Logo

What is the mechanic referring to when he says my 96 Kia Sephia might have a broken spider gear? When I'm going forward it shifts real smooth into 2nd gear, then it jerks forward & makes a clunking noise; not like a u-joint, but definitely a hard part. It happens more so if I turn the wheel either way going forward or backing up. Trans fluid level is perfect & I've had both CV's & ball joints replaced. Could a tranny mount cause this?

I think he's referring to a gear inside the transmission, part of a planetary gear set. The symptoms point twards a transmission problem, a mount cannot cause this.

If you're finding it difficult to service/repair your car, get one of those online manuals. You'll not have to wait for others to answer, or rely on mechanics and all. Plus i know a website that sells very cheap but very very good manuals online, without expiry

Kia troubleshoot

Sorry but you are left to only one solution. Have the car towed to a real repair shop. After it was broken and than someone else took it apart you have no other options.

Kia sephia will start but when lights turned on door locks and starter motor engage?

you have wires reversed at the fuse block under hood, matbe had to replace sone of the maxi fuse's that bolt in?? the clutch is probable bad there is a test motor running emergency brake on then push clutch pedal in and try 1st gear and keep pedal down during this, go 1st gear the to reverse if wont go smoothly or grinds then most likly clutch throwout bearing is bad, maybe clutch cable is streched or not adjusted properly if it is mechanical clutch, depends on year and engine size
