If you're referring to the 4.0 I-6, there is an idler pulley located directly under the air conditioning compressor pulley.

However, tension is adjusted through the power steering pump. You will have to loosen the two bolts behind the power steering pump, two or three bolts which attach to the power steering bracket, as well as the one under the front of the pulley.

There is also another bolt under the driver's side of the power steering pump. This one actually controls the belt tension

My Tension pulley is loose. Is there a way to tighten it?

There is a bolt in the center of it that you can tighten. If that is tight then the bearing is out in the pulley. Get this replaced as soon as possible.

Hello, how to relieve the belt tension on jeep grand cherokee 1995?

Hi,

In order to relieve the belt tension in your cherokee jeep, you have to locate the belt tensioner pulley first, which is found between the crankshaft and a component toward the top of the hood area.

Afterwards,Rotate the belt tensioner pulley, using a wrench spanner to relieve the tension on the belt.

Good luck.

Jeep cherokee tensioner where is it located 1994

It is the "center" pulley. It is attached to the engine block with an "arm" that is spring-loaded. The center of the tensioner has a 1/2" slot for using a 1/2" socket wrench or handle to ease the tension.

I need to replace my serpentine belt. Which

For a 94 Jeep grand cherokee, the tension is controlled through a long bolt on the power steering bracket. The bolt is about 6 inches long, located underneath the power steering on the driver side. Lossen the lockbolt holding it in place, as well as the Power steering attach bolts, and turn the long bolt to tighten/loosen. I believe these are all 13 mm bolts.

Whining noise

Could be a few things:

Belt slipping- adjusted through tensioning bolt on bottom of power steering pump

Pulleys- take off belt and hand turn pulleys. Find one that gives resistance and possible makes the whining noise. It's probably the idler pulley.

Serpentine belt wont stop slipping

sounds like your belt tensioner pulley may be defective, also check all the pulleys for excessive play in the pulley bearings, these are the most common causes.
