do taillights?fuse is blown for running lights, and check bulbs they go in bunches,if none of these are bad the printed circuit is bad on cluster, clusters are easy to change, youtube has instructions, buy it from ebay
fuse ok.need to remove instrument cluster and see if good connection on the cluster os maybe yo can see a break in plastic circut board.I would have another instrument cluster handy if old unit not repairable
It may not be a bulb, as the instrument cluster usually has a number of bulbs and they probably didn't all blow at once. Pulling instrument clusters can be touchy and may not be for the average "shadetree mechanic" however, typically there are a few screws above the cluster going into the dash pad and a few hidden behind the trim panels below the cluster.
The bulb is probably loose and/or burnt out. If you are mechanically inclined you can tackle this job... This procedure is the one i use, most often it's the blue high beam indicator bulb that goes so if you want to change it while your in there.....(hint hint) Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable. Wait a good 2 minutes to allow for air bag deactivation...NOTE: USE CAUTION ...Lower the tilt wheel to lowest position. Remove the cluster bezel from the instrument panel. Remove the two screws that secure the upper mounting tabs of the instrument cluster to the underside of the instrument cluster hood formation of the instrument panel top pad. Remove the two screws that secure the lower mounting tabs of the instrument cluster to the instrument panel structural duct. Pull the upper mounting tabs of the instrument cluster downward, then pull the instrument cluster rearward far enough to access the instrument panel wire harness connector for the instrument cluster. Disconnect the instrument panel wire harness connector for the instrument cluster from the connector receptacle on the back of the instrument cluster housing. Remove the instrument cluster from the instrument panel. Now do you remember which bulb it was? You can now see where the check engine light bulb is mounted. Twist and remove, install in reverse order. In some cases they are just loose or not making good ground, but after going through this just to access that lil bugger, i'd replace it. I hope i have helped you and if you feel i have please acknowledge. Be well and keep the cherokees alive....
The light behind myRemove the cluster bezel from the instrument panel. See Cluster Bezel in this group for the procedures. Remove the four screws that secure the instrument cluster to the instrument panel Instrument Cluster Remove/Install Pull the instrument cluster rearward to disengage the two self-docking wire harness connectors NOTE: The instrument cluster has two self-docking wire harness connectors that will be automatically aligned with, and connected to the instrument panel wire harness when the cluster is installed in the instrument panel. Remove the instrument cluster from the vehicle. Reverse the removal procedures to install. Tighten the mounting screws to 2.2 N·m (20 in. lbs.) when I turn my headlights on. All the other gauges are lit, but not the gas gauge. How do I get in there to replace the bulb and fix this? Or is it a fuse problem? I have a 1998 jeep scout Thanks
