The brake light is only attached to the e-brake, not the brake system. There's a switch under the pedal that controls the light via the e-brake itself, chances are it needs replaced. The brake light is only attached to the e-brake, not the brake system. Two reasons for the brake light to be on. 1) Parking brake and 2) problem with pressure in the brake lines.
If the parking brake is off and the ignition is on but the brake light stays on, then there's a problem with the switch attached to the parking brake. It might be stuck or broken.
If the brake light goes on when you apply the brakes, there is an imbalance somewhere in the brake lines between front and back wheels. This light usually goes out when your foot is off the brake, but if it stays on, the switch in the brake lines near the master cylinder might be stuck or broken.
could be a bad brake light switch which is mounted near the brake pedal under the dash try adjusting the plunger which contacts the pedal maybe its on going in far enough otherwise replace the brake light switch
does this vehicle have headlight dimmer swith on the floor.if so make sure that it has a good dround
test this switch
if this is not problem replace light switch
The light comes on to to let you know there is low pressure in the system. If the fluid was extremely low when you filled it the brake linings are extremely worn or you have leak in the system. I would check under the car for any signs of moisture around the brake lines. If your brake linings are good and no leaks can be found you will need to replace the master cylinder. Good luck
Hello,
check the fuse in the fuse panel labeled PARK this may be it.
...and also, just a question here, Have you recently had a radio or alarm installed?
you will have to remove the master cyl no need to dissconnect the lines and dissconnect the vacuume line and from inside the car under the dash dissconnect the brake pedal from the shaft running to the booster. and remove the 4 mounting bolts that hold the booster to the firewall and pull foward in the engine compartment. as long as you dont dissconect the brake lines you wont need to bleed the brakes. good luck paul
Many possibilities but the alternator is a good place to start, if its plug is loose, then the green relay inside the center console just to the left and slightly in front of the emergency brake will be clicking in connecting and disconnecting the battery( one loud click per time). It will need replacing or simply disconnecting works for the short budget.
