Water in the gas tank

My daughter's 2000 Regal suddenly quit and the steering wheel locked up.  Luckily we were able to get it off the road.  My brother in law syphoned a little gas out of the tank and said that it looked like water had been put in the tank.
Will the tank need to be taken out drained etc. or will this solution I found on the Internet work?
The simpliest way to remove water from the tank is to syphon the gas from the tank-it takes most the wter with it.  Syphon as much gas out of the tank as you can-put it intoa pair ofor trio of 5 gallon gas cans.  You should be able to see the water in the gas.  If you add some dry gas and a few gallons of fresh gas you should cure the problem.  You can pour most of the siphonedgas back, but don't pour the last portion, the last gasoline , the "dregd" is where the water will be.

Same problem here. Tried three bottles of HEAT, and still no luck. Did draining the gas tank help?

I would go up and get some HEAT they sell it at any auto store it treats up to 15 gallons of gas. HEAT takes the water and trapes it so that there isn't much water left into the tank and allowes the gas to run like it is supposed to..

Has anyone ever tried an AquaSock? Says it will safely remove water from your gas tank.

I am currently dealing with the problem of excessive water in the gas tank. Because my car 97 BMW 528i utilizes a screen to prevent siphoning, I disconnected the fuel line immediately before the fuel filter and let the fule pump do the work for me. I also purged the upper end of the line (I actually blew air so that the water backed out of the filter). Although this was not an immediate fix, (i ended up flooding the engine and having to pull the plugs to let them dry) I did successfully remove about 3 cups of water. Next i will again purge the lines at the same place and possibly replace the filter which i fear may have become waterlogged. Hope this helps.

Here is the Technical Service Bulletin that maybe of help, worth looking into but can't guarantee that it would fix your problem Steering - Steering Column Clunking When Turning TECHNICAL Bulletin No.: 01-02-32-001P Date: November 25, 2009 Subject: Clunk Felt/Noise Heard From Steering Column, Steering Gear and/or Front Of Vehicle During Turning Maneuver and/or Steering Wheel Rotation (Replace Intermediate Shaft As Directed) Models: 2001-2004 Buick Regal 2005-2008 Buick Allure (Canada Only), LaCrosse 2000-2008 Chevrolet Impala 2000-2007 Chevrolet Monte Carlo 1998-2002 Oldsmobile Intrigue 2004-2007 Pontiac Grand Prix Supercede: This bulletin is being revised to add the 2008 Buick LaCrosse/Allure. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 01-02-32-001O (Section 02 - Steering). Condition Some customers may comment on a clunk type noise coming from the front of the vehicle while driving during a turning maneuver.

1. Locate a large area (parking lot) where the vehicle can be turned in a tight circle. 2. Turn the steering wheel to the right and/or left all the way to the steering lock, then off the steering lock a 1/4 turn. 3. Drive the vehicle approximately 5 km/h (3 mph) in a circle, preferably over rough pavement or seams on the road surface. 4. Drive the vehicle straight ahead at idle speed while applying and releasing the brake pedal. Listen/feel the steering wheel for the clunk/noise condition. 5. If a clunk is felt in the steering wheel, the MOST likely cause is the I-shaft - not the steering gear. Continue with the correction. Correction DO THIS - Replace the intermediate shaft DON'T DO THIS - DO NOT lube the intermediate shaft Replace the existing intermediate shaft

My 07 Chrysler 300 (Standard) steering wheel locked up while car is in drive. I was unable to steer,(car coasts), lights still on, full tank of gas. What is causing car to cut off out of nowhere? This is...

If I understand you, the steering wheel will not turn. Or is it that it is hard to turn? If it doesn't turn at all, I would not drive the car at all until it is repaired. If this should happen to you on a turn or when traffic stops in front of you, you could kill someone. It is not uncommon for a car to go into a slow speed mode, but what you describe is very dangerous.

Power steering problem.

Believe it or not this can quite often just be the tyres. Assuming that you have checked that both tyres are infact the same size, jack the front of the car up and swap the wheels from side to side. It would be worth checking for any wear in the track rod ends at this point by grabbing hold of the front wheel while jacked up with your hands in the quarter to three position and alternately push and pull the wheel. You should feel very little if no free play. change the wheels and road test. Does it pull the oposite way, is it better ?
then get back to me

1996 Buick Regal, 96k miles - Recent purchase - doesn't seem right.

Will your 'friend' take it back? 1 prob, likely a vaccum leak at the intake. 2 prob, at 'stopping'?? Brake pads. Stopped, good question. 3 prob, either the plastic cover or the horn pin under the steering wheel. 4 prob, This sounds like the exhaust 02 sensor is acting up. 5 prob, shock bushings or rubbers mounts on sway bar. Or the top bearing on a strut. 6 prob, Fixing the past probs 'may' solve this? 7 prob, Just live with this! You have enough on you plate already! Frankster016
