Once having checked the oil level and made sure it has the right grade in it, if the engine is not rattly or making knocking sounds this probably is not a worry, as long as the light never comes on when cruising.
It is possible the oil pressure sender is faulty. You could find out more by removing the sender and attaching an oil pressure gauge to see if all is well at higher revs.
Check for compression. Depending on odometer reading, it is possible that the timing belt may be broken or may have jumped time. Listen for a steady cranking sound when you crank over the engine, if the pitch of the sound changes you may be out of time or have a bent valve.
it sounds like its struggling to get enough air when it idles,,,, check the air-filter,try running the car for a few miles without the filter, and if it makes any difference, then thats your problem
It seems like you have a vacuum leak in a hose some where. Check under the hood for any rubber hoses that are dry-rotted, cracks, or sharp bends in any of them.
Check the engine for compression. Your head gasket may be shot. I have a 97 that had a similar problem, and we did the head gasket, car runs fine now. Prior to doing the gasket mine wouldn't start at all.
