The injector just pulls out, twist it around to break the O rings seal and pull while you twist it. The Injectors rubber O ring seal gets vulcanized to the metal rail after many years, and can be difficult to remove.

Here is a picture of the ionjector and the sealing O rings at both ends.

They just pull out, they are tight because they have o-rings that seal them into the bore.

How do I replace the injector

There are different designs. Do a search on youtube, probably a short video on your very model. If you have multi-port fuel injection, the injectors are often connected to a rigidly held "fuel rail", a fuel pipe that is held in place by screws. Of course, you must first relieve fuel pressure and remove the fuel lines to the fuel rail. And anything else obstructing the removal of the fuel rail and injectors.

Note that the injectors are sealed both to the fuel rail and to the injector bores they individually sit in by small but rather fat little O-rings. Clean away the dirt and grime where the injectors fit into their bottom end. When they come out, you don't want anything falling into the hole. You remove the fuel rail and injectors as a single unit. Use a rocking motion on the fuel rail, pry up very gently only if necessary. The injectors will just lift straight out of their bores with just a little effort. Once all are free, then you can remove the injector from the fuel rail. There will be some kind of retainer clip, a tab or wire to press. Always use new O-rings when reinstalling. A little smear of Vaseline or silicone grease, or even a thin film of oil around the O-rings and their bores makes them go in much easier and without stress.

Symptoms bad fuel injector,

If your fuel injection system has a fuel rail to deliver fuel to the injectors, you will have to remove it before you can remove the injectors.
First disconnect the fuel line at the end of the fuel rail. If there is another lune at the other end remove it too. (always be careful, some of these lines are under pressure).
Remove the screws or bolts which ever is holding the rail in place, if the wiring travels over the rail disconnect it first.
With everything disconnected, pull the rail away from the injectors. Most of the rails are just pressed on to the top of the injector tops, once you've removed the screws the rail should come off easily.
If your vehicle doesn't have a fuel rail then you have to disconnect the clips to each injector. Each injector will have a clip either at the top or at the top on the side that connects to the wire harness. Most fuel injector wiring plugs are held in place by a springy wir. To remove this wire, put a flat head screwdriver between the wire spring and the clip and CAREFULLY pull it away (don't loose it).
With everything off, you are are ready to remove the injectors (it is recommended that you use an injector puller) it is important that you don't break anything or let dirt and debri fall inside of the port wholes of the engine.
With the injector puller you just slide it under the injector and pop it right out.
To put the new injectors in just do the same as removing the in reverse. Remember to be careful and don't force anything.

I hope this helps for you.
Sorry if all thre pictures don't show.

How to seat fuel injecters

Assuming the injectors are already installed in the fuel rail, put a little fuel on the injector seals, position the injector rail in front of the holes in the head.
Start from one end of the rail and work the first injector into its hole a little bit, but not all the way. then do the same for the second and third. Work them in a little at a time so the injectors dont come loose from the fuel rail.
Once you get all injectors completely into the holes, rotate each of them back and forth until the injector turns smoothly when you rotate it. Once an injector rotates smoothly its seated correctly. But only rotate them a small amount back and forth.
If the injectors are removed from the fuel rail, do it the same way. Just install them in the fuel rail first, then install the rail/injectors into the cylinder head.

How to remove fuel injector #3 diagram

Hi, the picture shown is the driver's side of the engine. Go to the passenger's side and remove the 2 similar screws holding the fuel rail. Disconnect all of the injector connectors on that side. Raise the rail up carefully until the injectors come free from the manifold. #3 is third back from the front of the engine. Twist and pull it out of the fitting on the rail. Oil the oring on the new injector and twist it in. Oil all of the lower orings and slip the injectors back into the manifold. Replace the 2 fuel rail bolts and reconnect the injectors. Please let me know if you have questions, and thanks for using FixYa.

How do i replace fuel rail in 96 grand am 3100

disconnect the fuel lines at the fuel rail.then follow the fuel rail to disconnect every thing fastened to it,find the hold down bolts that fasten it to the motor(intake).unbolt the bolts.now you should blow any dirt around the areas were the fuel injectors go into the intake.disconnect the injector electrical plugs.pull the fuel rail and injectors together out of the car.you may need something to pry the rail/injectors up as it will be stuck to the intake.once out then you can remove the locking clips that hold the rail to the injectors and separate the injectors from the rail.install the injectors into the new rail in the same position as they were in the old rail.use a lubricant on the O rings when installing the injectors onto the new rail and insert the lock clips.lube the injector O rings on the end that goes into the intake and re-install in reverse order.reconnect items in reverse order and you can start the car.check for gas leaks.NOTE:if the O rings are cracked of broken replace with new injector O rings.

Need to replace a fuel injector#6 on a dodge intrepid 3.2 engine the car is a 2001

You will have to remove the fuel rail and all the injectors as an assembly then once it's out you can remove the #6 injector from the rail. It doesn't hurt to spray a little wd40 around the injectors to ease removal sometimes they stick a little, then wiggle the whole rail gently as you lift up on it to remove it. Good luck.

1998 Audi A4 1.8l

Nope - pretty much every system I've seen requires removal of the rail and all injectors as a unit, and then individual disassembly of the injectors. Honestly, with an 11-model-year-old car, if you're going to remove that injector (which, by your other post, you don't have a choice), it's worth the time and relatively low cost to replace all of your O-rings for peace of mind. You can soak the rail and injectors with penetrating oil to help free them up, and then clean and dry the rail and ring seating surfaces before installing the new O rings and injectors. You're going to enough trouble as it is - might as well be thorough and handle any future fuel leakage now before it's an issue and requires another removal of the rail.
