Shifter stuck in park

Have you tried shift interlock bypass? Do your brake lamps work? Found this info in your owners manual. fleet.ford.com has your owners manual, if you don't have one. It's free to read online. Just a thought. I suppose there could be other issues? If you try that bypass, set the parking brake.

Hi I have a2001 ford econoline its stuck in park & won't come out please tell me what's wrong.I mash the brake still won't come out of park.

I'd have to look at the wiring for shift-interlock system. Did you check that the brake lamps work? Some vehicles have a shift interlock bypass button, you press that then shift into neutral and start it. Not sure about your vehicle? If you try to get it in neutral, make sure the parking brake is set.

I'll try to look up more info.

I have a Suzuki Firenze 2008 ,gear won't move from

open the glove box , turn to page (opr, guide) on how to shift.
see that
see the words there on how to bypass park lock out (failure)?
there is a bypass , switch (lever) hidden on most cars.
park lock out is a feature. and laws mandating it in USA> if in uSA.
some countries, forbid the bypass feature , is again RTM
read the manual.

Gear shirt stuck

shift
stuck where, and when? (stuck in PARK>?) ??????????
all automatic cars have a feature called park lockout.
this car is under warranty, and most cars there is a bypass method stated in the operators guide, did you look there , in that book in glove box?
key on, step on brake, and see if you can get it to shift.

one some newer cars they took away the bypass feature. those cars should be avoided, (why invite getting stranded for so silly a reason ,huh)
http://www.gmc.com/content/dam/GMC/global/master/nscwebsite/en/home/Owners/Manuals/01_images/2k14acadia.pdf

page 9-19 shows no bypass... says call dealer.

the same book, shows, car can never be flat towed.
(no park bypass)

Gear shift stuck in park on a 2001 gran am. howdo

It is probably not the shift linkage causing your concern. All modern vehicles have a feature called Shift Interlock. It doesn't allow the shifter on automatic equipped vehicles to be moved from park without the key in the ignition and the brake applied. There should be a bypass that will allow you to atleast drive the car for the time being. Check your owners manual to find where it is. It's usually around the shifter. The most common cause for this problem are the brake switch or the shift lock solenoid.

My 2001 ford focus is stuck in park, stepping on brake, does not release it from park, and brake lights are not working.........

Without the brake lights working the shift interlock can't release. Turn the key just off the "locked" position and you should be able to shift to neutral and start the engine then shift to drive or reverse. Just don't shift back into park until you are parking the car to leave it.

Car is stuck in Park. Will not shift after losing

Your car will only shift out of park with the brake pedal down. If this does not release it, there is a bypass switch that is located in your center console near your gear selector. You'll actually have to remove your center console in order to access this bypass switch.
