If you ahve done teh repairs it will normally reset after 4 to 5 successful runs without a new error. In some places and Auto Zone or Advance auto will reset the light for you if you have done teh repair. Other than using that machine you can disconnect the NEGATIVE battery terminal for about a minute and then reconnected it to reset the codes.

It is called an OBD2 drive cycle, and it reset the system after the battry has been disconnected or the system power shut off for any reason.
You must follow this procedure very closely to have sucess. The instructions are at the URL link below.

2002 Pontiac Grand Prix, O2 sensors have been replaced but the computer keeps resetting whether the sensors are ready or not.

Use an obd to scan fault code it's not likely to be the replaced parts otherwise sounds like comp needs to be flashed or replaced

2004 porsche cayenne i reset computer and now it will not start

Clearing Codes, clears all data, then all the emission
monitors have to run again, or you won't be excepted
to inspection

Clearing codes & data, has nothing to do with diagnosing
why you got the fault codes & fixing the problems

How would clearing a dash light help pass inspection?

Before you got down the street two houses, the light would
be back, the car has a failed system ,thus the light on the
dash after the motor is started.

You cleared all data, now a shop can't even work on it
You removed all vehicle history & codes

Flat bed it to a shop & they will make the repairs you neglected
to do, while trying to get hundred miles before the parameters
on a failed system went out of range & the dash light came back

Need to study OBD 2 Systems on the internet & leave the vehicle
work to the pros

Engine Check light

Take it to autozone or another place like it and have them read the codes and tell us what they are.

Just had MAf clean, how many miles I have drive to reset codes to emission test.

The service shop that you took your vehicle to should have cleared the codes to see if they came back after repair and a test drive. If they did this and the light came right back on then the repair wasnt successful and you still are having a computer related problem.

2009 toyota tacoma service engine light...how do i turn it off

if you are talking about the maintanence due, light it's quite simple; turn the key on' with the engine off. make sure that the odometer is in the odometer mode and not one of the trip settings. if it is in a trip setting reset to odometer mode. now turn the key off and push the the odometer reset button and hold it, turn on the key(don't release yet) and wait ill the odometer reads 000000. you are now done. if you are talking about the "check engine" or the "service engine soon"light, then your problems are a little more complicated then that and indicate that the computer has picked up a signal from one of the many sensors indicating a problem in one of the monitored systems. being as since this is a 2009 vehicle it should be under warranty regardless of weather you are the first owner or not as long as it's under 36,000 miles for non emission and 80,000 miles for emission related repairs

Emissions test comes up not ready - can't pass inspection

Under the hood, there is a fuse block. I believe it is on the driver's side of your vehicle. Open that box, and pull the "ECU" fuse. Leave the fuse out for at least 5 minutes. Put the fuse back in, start the car, and let it idle for at least another 5 minutes. Do not drive the car, touch the gas, or even look at the gas pedal for these 5 minutes, as the ECU is remapping itself. This will properly reset the ecu and clear the codes. After this you may drive the car.

My auto could not complete the emissions check because the computer did not work. Is there a way to reset the computer?

Another poster reported that he did not pass the emissions test because the computer codes were not old enough. Apparently his computer was reset too recently and did not have time to set any codes if they did exist. What you describe could be the same problem. I can't think of any reason why the code reader would not work, especially since the engine does run.
