I have a problem kinda like this, I really dont know anything about this truck my husband is deployed he usually deals with it, is it easy to fix if you dont know what your doing? where is the filter, I called the Chevy dealer they said it probably needs a tune up and that cost 600$!!! I need help fast I am afraid to get out in it, may quit on me. This is what its doing, I just brought it back from being overseas and put gas in it, it acts like it will stop running at lights and stop signs etc, then when you put your foot on the gas it hesitates then catches up smells like gas and kinda putput and run. Any help would be great I do need a way to go fast

I have a 1996 Chevy Silverado and trying to find the fuel filter is a pain. Anytime you call someone they do not want to give out info, but rather you bring in for a charge. You can start the truck and in seconds it shuts off, if you press the acclerator it smells as if it is flooding. Thought I would try changing out the filter before changing out the fuel pump.

The fuel filter on chevy trucks and suburbans is under the vehicle on the drivers side. they have been in that location from 1988 models to at least 2004. symptoms of a plugged fuel filter would be sluggish acceleration, engine wouls feel like it is trying to die on heavy acceleration but picks up when you let off the throttle.if the filter is stopped up completely then you could get a stall or no start condition

The fuel filter is tucked away inside the frame, located on the drivers side, right about the middle of the door. If you crawl under the truck, looking up, you will see the fliter hidden neatly behind the beam of the frame. Its very easy to take off. Buy a new filter before you take the old one off, and you will then know what to look for. Hope this helps.

Release pressure from the line and then change out the filter, it is in the fuel supply line under the truck. Symptoms of filter issues: anything from a mild to severe loss of power accelerating or under a load, worse case the engine will not run

Is the fuel filter in with the fuel Pump on a 2008 Chevy Malibu or is there an in-line filter

I don't know - some cars have an in-tank lifetime filter. The best way of finding out is to try and buy a fuel filter for your car. If one is passed over the counter you will know what you are looking for.

When changing a fuel filter, especially if you suspect it is causing problems, it is wise to open up the old one to take a look. If there is heavy soiling or moisture it could be time to change where you fill your fuel tank.

Hi, Should these causing any problems if not now maybe in the future, its better to clean them whilst in good condition than wait until they let you down, or to the degree that you need new ones. Please send me feedback to [email protected] Thanks Malcolm Campbell.

My 2001 GMC Sierra just made a 600 mile trip. The next morning, the truck wouldn't start (full tank of gas). Replaced the fuel filter, banged on the gas tank. Tried to start the engine again, engine...

When your replaced the pump did you replace the fuel filter? You may have a fuel pump relay causing you some grief. I believe it is located in the engine compartment in the fuse center on the left inner fender. Check the relay and any related fuses. Check the electrical connection at the pump. They had problems with some of them and they would get kind of hot and distort and corrode. They have new updated ones that can be easily installed.

I need to know when I have to change my fuel filter. I have a 2008 Ford Focus SE Sedan.

I would recommend looking in your vehicals owners manual in the service and appearance care section each manufacturer recommends different mileages on what tasks to perform at certain times, in that section it will state what mileage to change the fuel filter on your particular model ford, I would say anywhere from 30,000 to 60,000 miles probably but make sure first by looking in your manual...

I used to get about 19-22mpg in my 01 Escape V-6. Now I am getting around 12mpg. What is could be causing this. I don't have any lights on my dash? Getting Frustrated!!

What could be causing this:

4 Wheel Drive kicking in when it should not be.
4 Wheel Drive causing more drag than usual.
Brake problems.
Timing Chain stretching, causing timing to be off.
In Need of an Oil Change
Might need Spark Plugs and Wires
Dirty Air Filter
Dirty Fuel Filter
Dirty Fuel Injectors
Low Tire Pressure
More weight in the vehicle
Bad gas
A sensor not reading right
O2 Sensors
Restricted air flow for exhaust
Worn Cylinder walls inside engine
Valves not adjusted
Cam Position Sensor

The possibilities are endless.

I would first start with a full tune up and check the tires for proper PSI. The cheapest and it is regular maintenance.

If that made no change then I would take it to a "good" mechanic to have them run diagnostics on it to see if all your sensors are giving off good values. This can help pinpoint your problem, it can pick up things that will not set off a dash light (dummy light).

If that comes back okay, I would then start looking at the drivetrain. Change fluids, re-grease and look for obvious problems with the brake pads/rotors while tires are off.

Sorry that there is no sure answer to this question, but at least you have a point to start looking from.

2.3 will not idle, you can keep it running if you

change fuel filter and add a can of SEAFOAM(parts stores) to a 1/2 tank of Premium gas. Try it. and when you do, look inside the fuel filter and see the goop that's causing most of your problems. your vehicle suffers from EGS

Rpm going up and down

coolant temp switch can cause this. but add a can of SEAFOAM to fuel and change out the f filter again. the ETHANOL is causing unusual problems with these.

Car won't start until i give it gas.

You have to change the Fuel filter on your car. Its probably do for one anyways so change that fuel filter and that should solve your problems.
