Actually there are 2 other ways to get the gas out, But again when dealing with fuel you can never be 100% safe. Take all precautions namely

  1. keep a hose with running water flowing under the vehicle
  2. keep a fire extinguisher handy
  3. open the gas lit and remove the gas tank cap (prevents any explosions if anything goes wrong it just burns)
Method 1. the drain cap under the tank,

  1. you need a flat container like a large shallow basin / tub
  2. remove you battery poles
  3. make sure the gas tank lid / cap and cover are removed
  4. slide under your car
  5. look at the fuel tank you will notice a bolt in the middle of it or close to an end that holds nothing.
  6. remove the bolt, all the fuel will drain out.
Method 2. *qucik fast method but a bit more dangerous.

1.) keep a running hose under your car / keep a fire extinguisher handy, open the tank and gas cap
2.) pop the hood
3.) locate the fuel filter
4.) remove the hose leading to it,
5.) connect this hose to a longer hose and lead it to a bucket or place the hose in a pipe leading to a bucket (your choice)
6.) hold it firmly in place and ensure no fuel spills
7.) have someone turn on the ignition, this will turn on the fuel pump which will pump the fuse out of the tank, through your hose and too your gas container.

strain the fuel and add it to your next car tank using your siphon kit or pouring it through a piece of pvc pipe with a funnel on top.

N:B: Be careful this is how its done by some people but not by most garages as they have safety principles. But once used properly it works fine.

Unfortunately most fuel tanks are made so you can no longer siphon gas through the fill tube. if you want the fuel that badly you could disconnect the fuel line from the fuel filter and wait for it to drip out.

Can I siphon gas from a 1995 ford thunderbird the v 8

Most cars have an anti siphoning device in the filler tube that resembles a screen so you can't put a tube down to be able to siphon gas out of the tank.

Need to siphon the gas out of my 1990 toyota camery

Because Toyota gas tanks are low,you may have trouble siphoning.Make sure hose and gas can are lower than gas tank.Use rubber hose, now suck on hose till you get gas in your mouth, and put hose quicly into gas can.Repeat if you have to.

Gas tank

Bypass/jumper the fuel pump relay, disconnect the supply line to the injectors and turn the key on, it will pump the tank dry in about 10 minutes if it's full. You can't siphon a newer car due to the anti-siphon design of the filler neck.
