Are you sure that it is getting gas, you can take a gas can and pour a small amount down the throttle body (just a teaspoon or less) and see if it starts to run while turning it over. Becareful with the air cleaner off you could get a back fire (fire!) so only use a small amount of gas and have a fire extinguisher near in case you get a flame up. Could be the distributor if it is loose (as it became in my 1988) the distributor hold down fork became bent from over tightening the bolt and it would not stay in position. You will have to slowly turn it if it moved (or use a timing light) to adjust it till it will run there is a connector near the brake booster that needs to be disconnected to properly set the timing.

sounds very much like the coolant temp sensor
, this tells the pcm that the engine is cold, sometimes they fail and tell the pcm the car is at -40 degrees, the pcm then tries to compensate by keeping the injectors open for too long flooding the engine. the part is inexpensive, and normally easy to replace. It can be checked with a scan tool, or a volt/ohms tester,

Hey there. You can purchase a door pin and bushing repair kit to tighten up the hinge area, requires removing the door to replace. If the hinge area is worn to badly, the brass bushings willnot last. Also your window crank handle is held on by a C-clip behind the handle in between the plastic shim and the handle which requires a special tool to remove or a small screwdriver to get the clip off.It is hard to see.The shaft that the handle is on are known to wear also and if thats the case you will need to have the window regulator replaced.Hope this helps.John.

I had the exactly the same problem, in overdrive my truck would start to shake, in 3rd it would instantly go away, i assumed it was the flywheel to, THIS IS NOT THE PROBLEM, your tranny is in good shape and flywheel are in good shape, I had the "Idle Motor" replaced is what my mechanic called it, this completely fixed my problem, also my fuel milage went up considerably after having this replaced, hopefully this will help you out

Without taking the tilt mechanism off you can only reach 2 of the 3 bolts. If you use 1/4 in. socket on 1/4 in drive with 6 in extension you can just get at the left bolt. If you remove the tilt spring you can get to the bottom bolt. To remoce tilt spring retainer use standard Phillips.
