My 2005 Equinox, 53,000 miles, makes a groaning noise shortly after putting it into gear. It happens as the car begins to move and goes about 10 feet. Sometimes it happens when I put it in Drive and have put my foot on the gas. Other times, I have let my foot off the brake when it is in reverse. I bought it at 52,000 miles and it has done it since I bought it. Is this a normal noise?

My 2 have always made that noise, I'm guessing it has something to do with the ABS charging in preparation for potential use. after a combined total of 240k miles, there has been no noted detrimental effect to this "charging" sound.
Great car.

Check for Brake pads worn out...and wheel bearings for this noise...If your Equinox is the AWD (all wheel drive model) sometimes going forward the automatic traction control will make a groaning sound under hard or slippery road conditions. Great mileage for this Chevy...Enjoy your Equinox!! Hope this helps.

There is a grinding noise from the front of the vehicle while driving. All new brakes. The wheel bearings have been checked and are fine.

Is it more like a vibration and humming, than grinding noise? If so it would be a bad engine or transmission mount. To check bearings while driving.. Find an empty parking lot, Make right and left turns/circles. Making a left, if the noise get loader, the right side bearing is bad. and vice versa. Do around 10 MPH while turning circles.

06 chevy equinox transmission, put in drive, speedo says 5 to 10 mph but the truck does not move, put in park but truck still rolls, is it transfer case problem because if transmission is in gear, speedo...

You need to adjust the 4x4 shifter itself. That's your only problem. Moving the shifter isn't putting the transfer case into gear and speedo will move, whirring sound is just the bearings spinning. Re-set the 4x4 shifter linkage to proper specs.

Fuse for fuel pump on a 2005 chevrolet equinox

Could be a shorted fuel pump or could be a short to ground in the wiring. This may require expert diagnosis.

Steering is choppy / groans at startup

The first economical solution is to have a shop to change out the steering fluid and the filter to see if improved. If it os not then we can talk about the steering pump service. Good luck.

Why my 2005 chevy equinox abs makes noise when stopping speed is down to 10 mph

Here is the problem: It is the speed sensor for your wheel. Apparently mine was all jacked up and possibly could have happened during driving. The wires on mine apparently are all screwed up from whatever trauma it suffered. I'm on my way to go it now...........$240 OUCH!
