My 2000 Pontiac Grand Am has been sputtering for a while, it has trouble gaining speed and will miss several times while driving. Once the RPMs catch it will gain speed, but it still misses. My ABS light and "trac off" light will come on but will go off. I've replaced the coil packs, spark plugs & wires, as well as the fuel filter.

This may be totally off base but my 2002 Lesabre with the 3.8 litre engine was running like this and it was the ignition control module. It is under the coil packs. The engine would start ok and idle ok but run like heck when trying to drive it. Are you getting any codes? Mine was random misfiring. The ignition module was about $150 and relatively easy to replace. Make sure everything is clean when it goes back together.

I don't know why the abs and trac off lights are going on and off unless there is a short somewhere.

hope that helps. if not repost your problem.

Your car does not have an inline fuel filter. Do you have a check engine warning light on.

1995pontiac,firebird6cyl,sputters at 2000rpm

When you say "sputters at 2000 rpm" , are you referring to ANY time the engine is at 2000 rpm - meaning in Park, when you are just goosing the throttle, or in gear when you are accelerating, or at highway speed in high gear? If you are experiencing a "shuddering" in the engine at certain speeds/rpms - especially if these are speeds you regularly cruise at (long commutes at steady speeds), the problem could be in the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS). They have a tendency to wear unevenly if you drive a certain steady speeds. Eventually, the problem would progress to an engine code, but it may occur without setting the check engine light.

On the highway at higher speeds the car starts to sputter then the ses light which is on already starts to flash, but if you let of the gas then ease the gas once again you are able to accelerate. Only...

you have an engine miss, any time the check engine light starts flashing the engine is missing, should be an easy fix sounds like either a bad spark plug or a bad plug wire if you have the codes checked there should be a code telling you what cylinder is missing, but if i were you i would tune up the engine all new plugs and wires and filters......GOOD LUCK

2000 grand caravan won't go above 70 mph. high rpms

First I need to ask is it a 4 speed or a 3 speed transmission. If it's a 4 speed when driving down the road pull it from drive to third gear. You shpuld hear the engine speed up if it does not then that means you have on 4th gear and you will have to take it to a transmission shop. If it's a 3 speed then just count the shift points if all 3 gears are present then drive down the road and see if the van goes into tcc. When you mean the rpms are high how high are they.

1998 Pontiac Grand AM GT motor revs

it would not be an O2 sensor, period, they would never cause a high idle, have u had this checked for trouble codes? A sticking idle speed control air bypass can cause this problem as well as a throttle position sensor, but run the codes, Kragen does it for free was well as other parts stores.
