2001 GMC Jimmy. Is there a fuse I can take out to disable the ABS system and just use the regular braking system so I can drive it into town and get it checked out and fixed properly? The ABS system is doing funny things like making noise on dry land when being pressed and not engaging the brakes properly.

Under the hood there should be a fuse box, it's going to be one of the big fuses, had the same problem, 01 Tahoe. Found out it was a front bearing assembly. I replaced and it works fine now. Be carful as you will have no abs once fuse is pulled and FYI the abs light and break light will stay on as well. Good luck

I don't know a whole lot about abs brakes but I think you have to brake really hard to re-activate the abs system. Hopefully someone else can confirm or correct me.

It is not recommended. But you can remove the ABS fuse in under hood fuse box. To disable ABS system, if it is giving a problem. then the brakes should work like regular braking system. Good-Day!

Abs and brake lights on

Thats a big possibility. The abs light is on telling the driver the abs system is disabled. And the regular brake light could be on because the parking brake is not released.

2001 Buick Lesabre ABS light stays on even resetting the system. brakes are good and responding just the light coming on and off.

What this means is that the abs module is seeing a problem in the abs system. This has nothing to do with the regular brakes. What you need to do is get the codes from the abs module and this will help in finding what could be causing the light to come on.When the abs light comes on the regular brakes will work normally but your abs brakes will be disabled.Let me know what codes you find and I can help or explain what the cause could be.Good luck.

The cruise control just quit

By removing the ABS brake fuse you are disabling other components as well. The ABS fuse supplies voltage to the brake switch that tells the ECM and ABS module the the brake has been applied. If neither of the modules can see the brake switch the cruise control will be electrically disabled. You need to reinstall the fuse.
Let me know.
