The 1998-2001 Chevrolet Tahoe has a known issue with the air pump check valve which causes illumination of the check engine light. It's quit possibly a failing gauge. It's common for them to go out on 03-06 Tahoes at around 50-80,000 miles. Check this page for more on the problem and how to get it fixed - Tahoe Gauge Repair
have your cars computer codes read at a parts store. there is something wrong with your vehicle that it is retarding the ignition and doing other things to protect itself from damage due to some problem with engine....your codes should give you specific details on whats wrong.
have the a/c compressor checked, the a/c compressor might be locking up due to wear and bad bearings. one way to test is to try turning the compressor clutch while the ENGINE IS OFF, if the clutch is very hard to turn or won't turn at all by hand then the compressor is bad. the clutch is what turns the pully, the pully should spin freely, the compressor clutch is on the end of the compressor on the pully side.
P0179 Fuel Composition Sensor Circuit High Input. May have got some bad fuel somewhere. I would erase your codes and see if it comes back. If it does I would take your vehicle to the stealership to have it diagnosed a little further. Thanks for using fixya.
