I own a 1992 GMC Sierra Pickup still with the factory am/fm radio receiver and the seperate cassette player with graphic equalizer. A few years back it started to fail when turning on and now does work at all. When power is on to the truck and radio it shows a station, volume about 1/2 way up with no sound. Volume is not adjustable nor is the radio station by either pressing a different channel button or using the tuner (seek) button. With truck power on and the radio powered off the clock just shows 1:00 and this is not adjustable. I have checked all the wiring from the radio to cassette player and from radio to power amp and have reseated these and still have the same problems. Any ideas on what it could be?

I have the same problem in my 1988 Sierra. The radio does not work and neither does the heater/ac. I was hoping there was a relay somewhere that I am missing? Any Ideas?

I would say the problem is inside the radio itself. I have no idea if anyone repairs these units anymore or if any good used ones are available.

I want to install a new radio but can't find the main plug because the factory stereo and cassette deck are two different units in two different spots.

They sell a kit to install the radio where the tape player is located. To access the wiring you will need to remove your gauge cluster surround and remove the radio.

I have a factory radio in my yukon and want to use my Ipod in the truck. Does it have a usb connect and how do I get to it?

if it has a cassette player, get a cassette that has an mp3 attatchment at the end, could be bought at a radioshack, if no cassette player, then get an fm transmitter, it hooks up to your ciggarette lighter, if it has none of those, then get a new stereo headunit.

1992 gmc pickup

Start by looking for bad or disconnected grounds. My best solution to the wipers is that when they dont want to work just raise the hood and tap the wiper motor with a screwdriver.

I'm amazed at how many people throw out their manual--not fair to future owners! (you), there's lots of great info in it. Let me know if u have any trouble finding it. Good luck w the new vehicle.
