My 96 blazer was running fine then battery light came on and abs light and air bag lights came on and then engine started missing.

Won't start how ? You put the key in the ignition an turn the key to start ,what happens ? Does the starter engage an spin the engine but doesn't start or it does nothing ? When you turn the key on do the lights in the instrument cluster light - check engine , ABS , battery , SRS - air bags , ? If you can't supply more details your best bet mite be to take it to a quailfied repair shop.

Sounds like a bad battery

Check the timing belt if you have one

When engine is running the battery should putout 13.7 - 14.7.

Hi if the ABS and air bag light is on this indicates that you have a problem with the two system.

But first check your battery voltage, if you are under 11 volts with a running engine this will trip the two lights.

Other wise you will have to have both system diagnostically checked with the diagnostic scan tools .

Also if the battery was disconected this can also trip the light and all you need to do is have then cleared with a diagnostic tool .
In some areas you can have this checked at autozone .

Check and see if your alternator is charging
Low voltage will cause those lights to come on, as the computer is shutting down.

To check your alternator you will need a volt meter... WITH the engine running you should have about 14 volts coming out. IF NOT you need to replace the Alternator!

kenchyke, the shop may have disabled the air bag system to work on the car, and possibly forgot to activate it again. While this seems a bit odd to me that they could overlook this but, since it started after the work was done, you need to return it to the shop asap to have them check it out. Although the car runs fine, the abs system and the air bags won't operate, which could result in injury if you are in an accident (air bag will not deploy, abs probably disconnected).

sounds like security system problem...to re-set, put key in ignition, turn to run, till security light stops flashing. turn off then start car. See if this helps!

I think your BCM which is the body control module has failed, have a self test run on it to see if it will give any codes, if it won't test then it is the problem.
