Were is the map sensor located at on a 2002 kia spectra

I've checked both of my repair manuals for this vehicle. One is Chiltons, the other is Haynes. They both discuss a Mass Airflow Sensor, but no mention of a MAP. I then checked the book covering my GMC S-15 and found the MAP, but no MAF sensor.
Since the location is different, depending on engine size, my best advice is for you to obtain the same repair manual. It has pictures and leads you step-by-step through the replacement procedure. These books also list the diagnostic codes and what they mean.

Removing gearbox

Here's your book info is below...
Most auto parts stores carry Haynes Manuals. You can order them from Haynes if needed. Or...often they are carried in your local library.

I have done Ford and Toyota clutches using these books. Clutch replacement is not hard, just time consuming...And easier if you have a lift.

Note: If like many vehicles, don't forget to replace the engine rear main seal while you have access with the fly wheel off.

You can call Haynes and ask specifically if the book covers the repair you are attempting. I have called them to get more specific wiring diagrams not always provided with the books. Very helpful in providing tech data... I have a Haynes manual for all my vehicles...makes maintenance and repair much easier than researching every I need to do something to my vehicles.

Best of luck finding the information you need...

How to replace a ect sensor on a 02 5.4 v8 triton

I hope you realize that the po125 DTC code does not necessarily mean that you have a problem with the cylinder head temperature [CHT] sensor or the Engine Coolant Temperature [ECT] sensor.

It only means that the coolant temperature is too low for closed loop operation.

Other issues that may trip a DTC po125,
  • Insufficient warm up time
  • Low engine coolant level
  • Leaking or stuck open thermostat
I would clear the code and see if it comes back- since you won't experience any difference in engine operation anyway.

You'll need to perform a continuity test on the sensor, when the engine is cool and then again after warming up the engine.

Then you'll want to take voltage readings on the wire harness that goes from the ECT back to the GEM.
You may find that the wire harness from the sensor to the GEM may be shorting out.

However, I would think that, if anything, the thermostat would be the culprit and malfunction before a faulty sensor.

You'll find the sensor under the upper radiator hose where the thermostat housing is mounted on the engine block. It may be obscured by the alternator.

And if you don't mind my 2 cents worth of friendly advice, either purchase a Chilton or Haynes repair manual from your local auto parts store or online.

Good luck on your project.

My car is running codes P0011 and P2181. Can you tell me what that is please. 2004 vw jetta gl

P0011 - Camshaft positioning sensor
P2181 - Engine cooling temperature sensor.
If you have a repair manual (chilton/haynes/etc) these should be fairly simple fixes.
Camshaft positioning sensor for my car was $35 and took about 15 minutes to change.

2carpros.com suggested the P2181 is also fairly easy to replace

The engine temperature gauge suddenly stopped working on my 2006 S60. I assume it is the sensor as the car is running fine, the heater and engine cooling fan are working properly. I haven't been able to...

I'm afraid that my online resource doesn't have data on this vehicle. Which means that the best source of information will be a Repair Manual from the manufacturer, or a Haynes or Chilton manual if available.

One can try to locate the sensor by looking for a one or two wire sensor that screws into the 'hot' part of the engine block or cylinder head.

The above part sells for about $35 at Autozone.
