2000 kia sephia. Interior door handle will not open. Actually now is cracked off from trying to get it open. I can't open the door from outside or inside so I cannot take the door liner off to get to the guts. I can take the two screws out the interior handle but, can't pull handle off. The locks still function. I have the same issue with the rear passenger door too. Tired of crawling through the passenger door to get out.

Roll down window, look down into door and try to pull on steel rod. (long needle nose might reach). Carefully remove door panel from the top and again try to pull on steel cable.

You might have to take of the inside door trim and open it by hand.

I would appear the rod/cable actuator from inside door handle to the latch has either come undone or broken. Most of the time the clip that keeps it in place has slipped off. Or if it's plastic, has broken. Best advise to repair, go to local parts store and purchase a repair manual that covers your make and model years. I have Chilton/Haynes. They have a chapter that covers the repair, care and maintenance of the interior trim, etc. There are instructions with pictures of how to remove interior door panels and trim. And instructions on repairing the door mechanisms. This problem is a common one with all cars made from the 1980's onward. We have a 95 Kia Sephia that the door handles, both inside and outside, on the passenger front will work or not, on the whim of the car. Just one of those gremlins you have to chase every now and then. Best of luck on your repairs.

Open door from outside remove interior door panel replace interior door handle these break all the time cheap plastic.

take a shop rag by oppoising corners feed it under the handle up to the pivot point pull it back and forth by the corners like you are polishing the shaft that comes through the dr. the handle will now be in your hands!

Take door apart there should only be one screw to get outside cover off handle. when the door is apart there are three screws for the latch and two rods that disconnect (one for the latch and one for the lock)

Same problem. I have a 2000 Suzuki Esteem GL. A year ago the driver's door handle broke. Heard a sound and then it was loose. Could not open it from outside. Had to open front passenger door, open the driver's door from inside and then go out again to enter from the driver's door. FRUSTRATING. My mechanic had to take the door apart to fix it. Just a week ago, my front passenger door died on me. Can't open it from outside nor inside. The door won't open. This is such a stupid problem that costs lots to repair. Never will buy a Suzuki again. Had too many problems with it (had to fix gas tank, doors that won't open, front axle...).

you will have to remove the interior door panel to access the linkage in the door between the doorlatch and the handle, look for linkage or cable that may have come loose, reconnect them to the latch and you should be good to go. Be careful if you have electric locks.not loosen electrical connectors.
