You need to test the emission system for faults, you may have a problem with the throttle position sensor or TPS for short, they other part that can cause this is the idle air control valve, IAC for short, it can stick and hold the idle high. Have Kragen auto or a store like it test your car for a fault code, they do it for free! Let me know what they find, and we will try to solve this.

My wife had the same problem this morning I had to jump in the car while it was moving to get stop the car, I turned the heat and the air and the defrost on and the idle came down then I shut it off.
