While if it was working before then there is little problems which you have to check steep by steep !
1. go check your car light bulbs & light grips on back of your car .
If Bulbs look good then.
2. check fuse in fuse box which is on driver side & on fuse box cover its written on stop lamp & you can check other fuse as well just to confirm if there is another shorting.
If all fuse are good then check .
3.Check brake pedal upper side there is one switch which have two wire out check there wire or grip if its have losing then it wont work.
if its look proper attached then .
4.This switch have threads which can be adjustable before taking any step to adjust just check when you are pressing a brake pedal there is a plastic needle working inside its come out or not ,If its come out then your brake light switch gone wrong or if its not coming then plastic needle is jammed inside & your car brake light not working.
Just to confirm if your brake switch is in good condition or in bad condition .
Okay this is final steep you have to check or confirm it switch problem .....
5. There is two wire on back of brake pedal switch or in a grip coming out , So if its in grip or just on clips, then take a wire piece & bypass or joint both wire which is coming from wire loom sid to brake pedal & check your brake lamps if its blink or on than 100% you car brake pedal switch is not working or inside its short , So replace your car brake pedal switch or if still not blink or On then there is some issue in your car wiring & you better check you car to you auto electrician......
Hopefully you will save your amount not to visit you auto electrician.
best of luck....
first mistake you make is to increase the fuse capacity to above that required. You have a short in the circuit and by putting such a large fuse in you run the very real risk of burning the wiring loom. Check the bulb sockets and check that the right bulbs are in the sockets. bulbs come in two styles. one has 2 contact points and is either for 2 filaments (stop and tail) or a earth wire (Plastic light units) and the other is a single contact that earths out through the metal base . If you have the wrong bulb in place the current will short directly across the contacts and the light will not come on and the fuse will blow. Fuses for tail lights will be 5 amp maximun
Does your car have the `lamp out'indicator system? It's more complicated. My manual shows fuse #28 , a 15 amp fuse powers the brake bulbs. Is this the one you changed? A bulb can be out for a long time and you don't notice it,then the other burns out and you think they both went out at the same time, but they might not have, see? So check the bulbs and make sure you got that brake switch installed correctly. don-ohio (:^)
Get a test light and check for power. If you got power check the ground, and the contacts, if not follow the hot wire back to the brake switch to locate the short.
it could be the brake light switch, you should find it under the dash around the area of the brake pedal , a wire may have come off or the switch could be loose & needs to be adjusted & tightened up, also check the wiring around the brake lights for any loose or disconnected wires..........hope this helps......cheers.
the problem might be the brake light switch, you will find it on a bracket near the brake pedal it most likely has come loose & needs to be adjusted & tightened or else the wire has come of it.....hope this helps.....cheers
Hi my name is mike ! make sure with a test light that you have 0 power to the light back ther ,and if not then take a test light and check down by the brake pedal at the wires that go to the brake light switch ,check all of the wires for power and there may be more than one that has power to it ,do this without hitting the brake ,remember which wire or wires had power to them ,then hold the brake and one of the wires that didnt have power before holding the brake ,should have power to it now because when you hold the brake on it should close the brake light switch and send power to the lights ,if you dont have power coming through that switch when holding the brake pedal down ,then replace the switch .
most rear tail lights and turn/stop lights are the same dual filiment bulb. it is possible for your tail light to work and your brake light not to and still have a bad bulb. I would check the bulb first, your brake light works on the left yes? this would mean that the fuse is fine
