RE: 2000 Saturn SL Automatic power door locks (including trunk) and alarm are malfunctioning. The doors are not locking and unlocking with the remote nor the side buttons on the doors. Occasionally, the passenger doors unlock simultaneously with the remote, but not the driver's side door. Also, after manually locking all doors and attempting to set the alarm, the alarm light does not start to blink to confirm setting. The trunk is able to pop open with the interior lever. In addition, the interior center dome door lights and trunk lights are also not working. Please advise to resolve the multiple problems. Thank you.

if you unlock the driver door before opening it with the key you can turn the alarm off. Also taking it to a electronics place and having a keyless entry system will bypass the factory alarm as long as you tell them to hook it up and in most cases its less than buying a new factory remote. Also if you dont lock the car with the lock button from the driver door before you close the door the alarm will not arm.

Trunk Lock After Closing

if it has power door locks it does,,if it does not have power door locks it does not

You need to program the system,it's probally in theft deterrent mode & disables the starter.To program your new remote locate the diagnostic connector under the drivers side of dash.To program the new remote Jumper a paper clip between the #4 & #8 terminal you will hear the locks cycle & the trunk will pop.While the terminalsv are jumped hold down lock & Unlock on the remote at the same time until you hear the locks cycle again,remove the jumper wire or paper clip & you should be good.

Are you locking the car with the key fob? If so yo must unlock the car also with remote or alarm will sound when you unlock with key.Or someone may have set your system to passive arming.If this is the case you local saturn dealer will probally reset it back for you.Hope this helps

most likely a door pin switch or trunk switch malfunction or switch adjustment.hope this helps

Needs new drivers door lock actuator (P/N 3B1-837-015-AS)

one of the front door latches is out of adjustment or bad. when you lock it at the trunk try the front doors to see if they might still open when the alarm is set if so that is your bad latch. bad news is to replace it you will need to tear down the entire inside of door

First to turn off the alarm you simply put the key into the drivers door and turn it to unlock the door twice, this is the factory setting to turn off activated Volkswagen alarm. As for the power locks they are air activated, in the trunk near the latch there should be a small electric motor that drives a small air pump with air lines running to all your locks. If this electric motor as worn out your locks will not operate, simple fix replace the motor. I'd try a used one first from a scrap yard to make sure but always check to see if there is power to the motor (you will need another person with a test light to perform this job). check your fuses, quite a big one considering it supplies all your locks
