What is a oil filter tube baffle on a 1967 327

  • piddleguy Aug 10, 2008

Could it be on the bottom of the block ,above the oil filter( behind both plates that the filter screws into there is a hole that was perfect) but why plug up a oil line? Never had a problem like this and cant find one anywhere, or where it goes if I had it! Its just nuts. This is a 64 to 67 327. Casting # on the block 3892657 Thanks Ron

This is a spin on, no bolt. It very well could be a after market set up. I have a 400 to put in another Chevelle, took the filter of it a little bit ago and it was different. One plate, no hole besides the screw hole for the intake. Dont know. About ready to scrap a 300 bucks make over because of a 25 cent part! Thanks so much Ron

The only place I can think of there being a oil filter tube baffle is the suction screen on the oil pump pickup tube. This should be inside the oil pain, attached to the oil pump.

Some of the older engines had a different oil filter attachment, after market plates came out and a spin on filter could be used, sorry I can not look up the casting number on the block. I will try and check into this, and get back with you. Non of the older units I worked on had two plates between the filter and block. Is this a spin on filter or a canister filter with a bolt through the center.

NO OIL PRESSURE LIGHT GO OF BUT NO RESPONSE ON MY GAUGE , FITTED NEW OIL PUMP AND FILTER BUT STILL SAME TAPPET NOISE

What motor? If a SBC you can't just press on the oil pump pick up, you need to have it welded on or they come loose and fall off.
Some pumps need to be primed, I would put mine into pan of clean oil and turn pump until it started sucking up the oil before installing.
If it is a 3800 Buick you need to pack gears with vasoline, so different motors require different steps in order for oil pump to function after replacing it. There is also chance filter is bad, or relief valve is bad, more info would help us help you.

How do I get oil pan off on a 2000 Saturn LW300 V6 3.0L

The official shop manual reads :
Remove nose cone brackets bolts from oil pan.
Remove lower transmission flange to oil pan bolts.
Remove oil pan bolts.
Using designated pry points to break loose the seal. Bump the pan with a rubber mallet to loosen the pan from the engine block.
Remove oil pan.
By the illustrations, the only thing in the way is the oil pickup tube.... Good luck !

I need to change the oil and oil filter how mutch oil do i need and what grade for a citroen xsara 1587cc petrol

Oil filter replacement:

1. Removing:
"a" tabs
(1) Filter element protective cover
(2) Seal
(3) Filter element of the oil filter
(4) Plunger tube.
Untighten the filter element protection cover.
The filter element protection cover incorporates a 27 mm on flats Allen screw with 2 lugs at "a" which enable it to be held in a Facom S27 HLA socket.
Remove the cover (1).
2. Repair: When removing the filter element, the plunger tube ( 4) frees the oil return pipe, thus permitting the oil remaining in the filter element to return to the engine sump.
The filter element ( 3) and plunger tube (4) assembly should be replaced at every service.
Filter element protective cover : Tightening torque : 2,5 (0; -0,5) daNm. Proceed in the reverse order to removal.

I can't find the oil filter on my Boss's Avalon so it is setting in our main hanger at the small airport that I work at. I have drained the old oil out but I am baffled by where the oil filter is located.

It's in a cast aluminum container on the bottom of the engine toward the front passenger side, you will see a square hole. The filter is inside, it is a cartridge type filter. Filters are at your toyota dealer and come with 2 "O" rings, an adapter to drain oil from the housing, plus directions.

Where is the oil drain plug of a 2005 toyota sequoia ?

Look under the engine (not the transmission) for the drain plug on the engine oil pan.

The following is some information on how to change the oil pan:
REMOVAL & INSTALLATION 3.4L Engine
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  3. Drain the engine oil.
  4. Remove or disconnect the following:
    • Engine undercover
    • Front differential, if equipped with 4WD
    • Oil pan, separate it from the engine using SST 09032-00100 and a brass bar
    To install:

I have a 1985 s10 blazer .. i drained the oil and replaced the plug, and replaced the oil filter .. however, i am unable to remove the oil fill cap. it does not pull out nor unscrew .. it does hand...

If you have any other fittings on the valve cover (pcv valve, breather tube etc) you can put a hose into the valve cover through that hole and fill it. (slowly...most have baffles inside). I have seen engines filled through the dipstick tube also (takes forever though).
Once you get oil in there, bring it to a shop and have someone show you how to get the fill cap off so it is easier next time.

My oil pressure gauge keeps going up and down. What can I do to fix this?

drop the oil pan and check the baffle in the pan. It may have come loose. If not remove the suction screen filter. It may be clogged. If not your oil pump is probably bad

What is the part call that the oil filer screws on called. it seems to be leaking from there

Check that the oil filter if firmly screwed onto the engine. If not then drain the oil, undo the oil filter. Wipe the surface of the oil filter connector on the engine so its clean. Get a new oil filter and smear a small amount of oil on the rubber seal. Screw the filter into place making sure it is a tight seal. Re-fill the engine with the right amount of oil. You should be good to go. Check that the oil leak is coming from the filter before you start as it could be something more serious eleswhere like the head.
