central locking electic windows interior light do not workcentral locking electic windows interior light do not work
When replacing a brake light bulb on my 2004 TDI Golf something shorted out and now the electric windows and locks and dome lights don't work. The fuses look OK. Is there another circuit breaker I should look at or should I try to find the fuse for the dome light as suggested earlier in the post? Thanks

Re: Central locking, electric windows and interior light...
I had the same problem and it was the fuse. I don't remember the number, but it has the symbol for the dome light and that fuse also controls the windows and locking system.

windows, interior lights work via central locking control unit. [situated under side panel in luggage compartment] check fuses for c/locking and check for water ingress at control unit.
pls. check the relay or fuse that controls the motor function of ur sliding roof and window/ if relay and fuse is ok? check the electrical supply if ok then the motor is fried....
fuses are usually in the glove box or under the drivers dash or under the drivers side hood either physically inspect every fuse by pulling them one by one or the aid of a test light and a good ground to the test light
I just saw your posting. Yes, It could be a fuse, a 10amp interior light fuse BUT... I had to replace the Central Locking Control module which toasted first... I had the 3 open door, no working lights/windows situation too...
The problem seems to be in the main cabin light which has the 3 way rocker switch. Turn this off (depress the side on the driver side of the car (US)). Check the 10 amp fuse for the interior light. If it is burnt, you are OK if its not, you need to replace the Central Locking module. ~$200 US
I still have not replaced the cabin light module where I think a short is. If I replace the fuse in question, and turn the cabin light on, it "pulses" for a few minutes and then cooks the fuse.
I've been dealing with similar problems (windows and sunroof dead, power locks iffy, dome light doesn't work, random chiming) and best I can figure is:
a) get rid of the leak and any standing water b) depending on the year of your car check the relays and/or central locking module
I spent a lot of time checking the ECU and door interior parts and those were both dead ends. I also thought the standing water on the floor might be shorting actual wiring, but now I've eliminated that as well. Although my alarm hasn't been going off, the "door chime" has and the instrument cluster sometimes shows 3 or 4 doors open while driving. VAG-COM showed some alarm trip type faults as well. Central locking is my next move when I've got some time.
