On 4.7L the MAP sensor is located on the front of the intake manifold. An O-ring seals the sensor to the intake manifold.

got a voltmeter???????
check it at key on, idle (does engine run?) and racing throttle fast.
get the 3 voltages.
here is the curve.
off my jeep
http://www.fixkick.com/sensors/tests/MAP-sensor-output-real.jpg

this data is weak on jeeps, not sure why, my guess is graphs scare folks, but is simple, jr.high 9th math.?
so keyon about 4v ?
idle is 20 inches HG, so 1volt? see that below
and then gun the throttle you can hit maybe 3v?
if yes, its good.
there are 3 pins, 5v power, ground and output the below is OUTPUT to ECU.
99% off all MAP replaced are good, due to not having this curve.

Where is the map sensor located? 1994 jeep grand cherokee

Go half way between the air cleaner box and the "carburetor". Up the 4" black air pipe, a wire harness plug plugs into the MAP sensor there. Also called MAS air flow sensor.

The engine has no compression, when try to start the engine it turn slowely and backfire.battery ok, stater ok.(jeep grandcherokee 2002 year, engine 6 cylinder.)

Hello osmanmackoy; My name is Roger and I will help you. First have you done a compression test? If so the compression must be over 100 psi. in order for the cylinder to fire. This would be a bare minimum. I would also look at the oil pump drive unit. This would be located where the distributor would have been on the older engines. There is a sensor mounted on the top of the drive. Remove the sensor and check the inner shaft. There should be no side to side play in the shaft. If the shaft moves side to side You need to replace it. This sensor is used by the computer to tell what cylinder to fire. The computer will not know which cylinder is next to fire. This will cause a no start or backfire condition.
