P1443 Evaporative Emission Control System Control Valve The Evaporative Emission Control System monitors the fuel vapor flow between the engine intake manifold and the EVAP canister. The system failure occurs when a leak or blockage between the intake manifold, the EVAP canister purge valve and the EVAP canister is detected by the PCM.

Code P1443 Possible Causes:

- Pinched, blocked or plugged fuel vapor tubes/hoses (except between fuel tank and EVAP canister)

- Damaged EVAP canister

- Disconnected, cracked or cut fuel vapor tubes/hoses (except between fuel tank and EVAP canister)

Check enging is on---OBD code is PO171 & p1443---how do i fixed this problem

The most likely cause of these two codes tripping together is a vacuum leak associated with the canister purge system. This system collects the vented gasoline vapor from the fuel tank and when the engine is running purges the canister into the manifold.

The P0171 is an indication that the engine is running lean and the P1443 is a fault associated with the Purge Control Valve Solenoid trouble code control valve.

Inspect under the hood for a disconnect vacuum line.

The photos are examples of the vacuum circuit connect via hoses. Listen for a vacuum leak when the engine is running. It would be a whistle sound. Also if work has been done recently look in the area that the work was done under the hood.

Has a whistling noise coming from fuel tank. check engine light on. the code is p1443. why is it whistling?

It is whistling because there is pressure buildup in the gastank. The pressure relief valve is probably plugged up and malfunctioning. With incorrect pressure in the fuel system, the check engine light is being triggered. The code p1443 is reguarding the Evaporative Emmissions Control System. Hope this helps good luck.

P1443 code How do I fix this code problem on my 97 Ford ranger?

P1443 is the Evaporative Emission Control System Control Valve. Any time you get this code always check your gas cap. If it is not installed all the way, or leaks, it can cause the evap emission code to come up. If the cap is okay...

The problem is probably caused by the Canister Purge Assembly. This assembly connects the intake manifold to the charcoal canister and the assembly is made up of hoses, a valve and a sensor. On the 1997 Ranger, it is located near the front of the engine compartment on the driver's side (the canister is right behind the driver's side headlight). Apparently, if there are any cracks in the hoses, or if the valve or the sensor wears out, this will cause the check engine light to come on, and return the P1443 code.

Part numbers for the canister purge solenoid/flow sensor assemblies:

F57Z-9C987-AB Canister Purge Solenoid/Flow Sensor
Assembly - 2.3L F57Z-9C987-CA Canister Purge Solenoid/Flow Sensor
Assembly - 3.0L F57Z-9C87-BA Canister Purge Solenoid/Flow Sensor
Assembly - 4.0L

Part cost = $65 to $100 depending on engine size - good luck :O)

What is check engine code p1443 on a MAZDA 1996 B2300 TRUCK

Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P1443 indicates a failure in the EVAP canister purge valve circuit. The Evaporative Emissions (EVAP) Canister Purge (CP) valve controls the flow of vapors from the fuel vapor storage canister to the intake manifold during various engine operating modes. It may need nothing more than a good cleaning, vacuum hose connected or that is leaking, or may need more. I suggest you seek out the services of a good mechanic. Do not just throw parts at this. The code does not mean that any part needs replacing. It just means the EVAP system is being effected.
