Headlight Dim, High Beam Indicator Will Not 'Click' Off

The usual cause is a bad ground.
Check the ground with a test lamp.

1997 GMC Jimmy. Wipers go on if headlights are on. Looking for wiring diagram and any help. I have been just popping the fuse out. Looking to sell it, need it fixed. Thanks for your help!

If your wipers are controlled by the stalk on the left side of the steering column, along with the high/low beam switch, I would suspect the multifunction switch as the culprit (that's the switches contained as a unit in the base of the stalk).

Why does the high beam indicator stay on when normal headlights are turned on , the headlights and indicators will not work ?

sounds as though it may be a column stalk issue if all these functions are on a column stalk it may have become faulty.
It the light switch for main/dip beam is discrete may be a BCM or other electrical fault.
The first is the most likely but, as column stalks may cost a lot of cash, have a competent auto electrician take a look first

Turn switches indicate l or r ( up or down) and back to the wheel high or low beam for the head lights or twist the knob for off parks and headlights.

On my Focus I get intermittant 12V at the connector, when the wiper switch on the steering column is on

Hello, The wipers are intermittent until you get to the last 2 positions, steady low and steady high. So for testing purposes you would need to turn the selector to those positions for steady power.

Here is a method for fixing the contacts on certain wiper stalks. It is a photo by photo guide for repair. I know you have a car, but these photos are good reference. Otherwise you will need to replace the entire stalk switch.

I hope my solution is very helpful towards fixing your car.

Where is the signal flasher located

on the indicator stalk left and behind the steering wheel connected ot the steeing column if you push it away if will set the headlights to high beam if you push it towards you fully it will flash the headlamps.

the indictors to signal left and right are also on the left stalk push down for left and up for right.

the hazzard flasher is located in the middle of the dashboad above the radio and is a red triange depress once to activate and once again to deactivate.

if the wiper active at any time then try the stalk on the oposite side of the steering wheel.

Headlights and turn signals stopped working

First off, do you have a knob on the dash for the headlights, or do you have a lever on the column that turns them on? If you have the lever on the column, and you can turn on the highbeams by pulling back on the turn signal stalk, and hitting the hazard button turns the flashers on, then chances are the stalk is bad (it's called the combination switch and it's a common failure on the B5 chassis cars (the Passat and Audi A4)).

Try that out - hit the hazard button and see if the hazards work. Pull back on the stalk and see if the high beams come on (they should - toggling like that uses a circuit that is separate from the usual headlight circuits).

Post back up with the results of these checks:

Headlight switch on column or dash?
Highbeams turn on when turn signal stalk is pulled back?
Hazard button activates hazard lights?

Let me know what you find out and I'll be able to tell you more definitely.
