I have a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am 3400.. wouldn't start one day at all so replaced batt, starter & alternator. Once driven all lights come on and then power loss happens and car shuts down. Jumping only allows it to start for a moment then the car stalls out and no power? What could be wrong? Pls Help? Ty

This could be an anti theft security issue. This happens all the time in GM's. The anti thefts are known to fail and cause the car to not start, stall while driving, or start for 1-5 seconds and then die. A good indication that the security is failing is if you see a light on the dash that says SECURITY or a picture of a car with a padlock thru the window. This link explains the problem, symptoms, and some DO IT YOURSELF solutions. http://vatspasslockpasskeysecurityhelp.yolasite.com/

2000 Pontiac Grand Am SE security system wont let car start

first most GM OEM systems will need to recognize the key first and foremost ,to do that you will need to roll window down on driver door, turn the key to the run position and with engine NOT running leave the key on for 10 minutes exactly ..then turn ignition off then try to start engine. if original system is working engine should start normally

We have a '03 Pontiac Grand Am GT, 3.4L (3400).

If the resistor bypass doesn't solve it, another remedy could be a plug-in type engine block heater- I mean plug into household current. It keeps the engine coolant warm in the block. Every other car here in Montana uses one-works great for those below zero nights. When the wife pulls into work, just run an extension line and keep the car plugged in till time to go. Other than that, IDK, sounds like you've covered it pretty well as far as solutions.

06 pontiac grand prix wont start no clicking when you turn the key over even jump starting the battery, has dash lights & radio & parking lights. battery tested good. put a used starter & altinator on

Used parts such as starters and altinators don't last. It might **** but it sounds like you need to buy a new starter, altinator, and battery. Or just start with buying one at a time.

Hi
Pop into to your local garage and have a diagnostic test carried out.
Listen to the advise given. It may save you lots of money, especially if you start the "guessing" game.
It does sound like a part may be blocked or failed though, but the sytem needs to be tested thoroughly first.
Good luck

Everytime you replace the starter? how many starters have you replaced? Why are you replacing starters? May be you need to start buying quality parts. The Starter has nothing to do with the battery light. DO NOT DISCONNECT THE BATTERY WHILE THE ENGINE IS RUNNING. That can whipe out the engine computer.
