Question about 2011 Dodge Journey

1 Answer

I installed the wiring harness for the tow package and there is no current to the plug. Do I need to put a fuse in? If so, I have checked the fuse box diagrams and they do not match what I have in the vehicle. What fuse(s) do I need and what slots to they go in. I have F and K labeled slots. My owners manual is using M and J slots and does not match the pattern in the vehicle.

Fusebox layouts do tend to change from territory to territory though mostly the vehicle handbook diagrams are fairly accurate. It is the diagrams in the repair manuals that tend to be generic.

Sometimes it is necessary to fit fuses to vacant slots and hope for the best...
Usually nothing bad happens...

SOURCE: need wire diagram to hook up trailer lights, truck not factory equipped w/harness,

I'm assuming you're just going to splice into the tail light wiring so that's what these wire colors are:
at the tail lamp 3 way connector:
black and yellow = park lamp
dark green and brown = left turn signal
there should be another connector with violet and black wire for reverse lights.
the stop lights are turned on through the turn signal circuits.

I have a new 2010 jeep cherokee and purchased a Mopar 7-way tow harness. I am currently in the process of doing the wiring installation, but the instructions are NOT clear as to 'what' gets...

if you have the dealer tow connector then it easy to do, theres no cut of wires you just connnect to connectors,if you look under the rear of the jeep you will see the connectors, they are pre wiring and taped or zip tied up, on this year if you dont see them under the rear then look inside the rear behind panels. heres a good website with videos to help you, all you do is type in the year make and model, there are two types, if your truck has the tow package then theres a wiring for that with two plugs if it didnt come with a tow package then it comes with four connector plugs, the web site is www.etrailer.com

Looking to put a hitch on my ram 1500(2001). Is the wiring harness the same as if i had a tow package on it?

the wiring harness is the econimical way to go about it; it serves the same function as if you had a tow package. But if you want the Dealer Tow package look, there are multible harnesses that you can just plug into the existing plug under your vehicle

No current to turn signal socket even after replacing flasher and fuse also new bulb and checked bulb socket for continuity. all good .no current on white and green wire coming from fuse box where flasher...

If you have the tow package wiring in the truck, check the wires around or behind the battery. The tow package harness is feed thru here and each wire has a fuable link that can go bad. Check for power on either side of the bulge in thw wire (this is the fuable link). If you find that this is the problem, you can cut out the fusable link and splice in an aftermarket in line fuse holder to maintain protection against shorts.

Someone may have installed the hitch aftermarket but opted not to install the wiring harness. You might need to get a new harness.

Trailer wiring for 2005 Ford Escape without factory tow package

I had the sam problem with my '02 escape when I installed the hitch. I changed the turn signal relay under the dashboard on the drivers side of the dash with one from an escape that had a tow package(one was blue and the other was yellow...). worked fine for me after that. Don't know if it changed later...
