U have an electrical issue. If water pump was failing then how in god's creation could the two fans cool the engine down? Check out the circuitry that controls the normal fan operation and you will take care of the issue. Till you find the problem just hot wire the fan motor with an on/off switch.
there are a number of things that can cause a car/truck/suv to overheat! #1. bad thermostat. #2. partially clogged radiator. #3. faulty radiator cap. #4. bad clutch on fan,or bad electric fan,or bad fan relay. #5. blown head gasket. These are the most common among all types of vehicles,I did notice you said "quickly" overheats. If the car is totally cold and overheats within 3-5 min of starting up, that is a pretty good tell-tell sign of a blown head gasket. if it takes a while longer to overheat, check the other items i listed.( always start with easyer and cheeper items first and work your way up from there) hope this helps ya out....yz-maniac.
we will start from front radiator;blockage, dirty fins,no air across -leak,dirty blocked tubes partial flow ,low on fluid---fan;;bad clutch, slipping[fan belt]----water pump;-damaged impeller, slipping on belt, leaking, damaged shaft;thermostat;;;not working,blocked,leak-------motor ;;;;headgasket , leak, damaged==timing==internal damage these are most of the problems that can cause an overheating problem
if it overheats at freeway speed, its a dirty radiator(flushing it usually don't help but you can try) If it overheats it traffic, then it is the automatic radiator fan(usually driven by electric motor). On some ocation an overheating is caused by retarded timing, but very unlikely on your vehicle since it is computerized.
