Take a look at your wiring, When swaping an engine its possible to pinch a harness between the trans and block. Gauges run off the center harness which would be closest to that location. If they all worked before the swap, they should work again when you have finished. If the starter turns the engine chances are it's wired OK but check to make sure there wasn't any other wire that went to the main post that still may be hanging somewhere. Since you have a carb, likely you have an aftermarket performance pump? Trace back the power wire to where it had been attached, check it's fuse (if any). 770 Holley? They only made a 750 and a 780 as far as I know???! Once started, you can check alternator wiring by seeing if it charges. It's difficult to get that wrong. (providing there is 12v to the "batt" side of the distributor, it should start.)Take a look at your wiring, When swaping an engine its possible to pinch a harness between the trans and block. too many possibilities. IE: fuel pump relay, ignition relay, Coils, wiring failure, bad starter, fuel pump, fuel filter. The list goes on and on. A local GM experienced mechanic can eliminate most of these within minutes with an inspection.
Assuming you have checked all the relevant fuses and relays, check for a blown inline fusible link in one of the power wires from the battery to the ignition switch. If you need a wiring diagram, try Alldatadiy.com.
Well, obviously someone didn't tell you the truth because spraying into intake doesn't make the vehicle turn over any better. You have ignition or fuel delivery problem. Start by taking fuel line off at intake and crank engine a couple times catching any gas in a cup or something. If none, then trace fuel line back and under vehicle til you find filter. Should be under driverside midway back on inside of frame. Change this and try test again. If no gas, see if fuel pump is on motor(mechanical pump). Change this and test again. If not on motor then it's in gas tank(electric pump). Most cases the tank has to be lowered to take out pump, careful not to drop, dent or make sparks. Some came with access through the floor so check that first. Normally you can hear an electric pump come on when you turn the key. Good Luck
I agree with gasitjr. I own a 98 blazer. When you try to turn over the engine. Does the engine rotate? If yes,it's not the starter or the battery. When you turn the key into the ON position before it starts can you hear an electric motor noise winding up? If yes , the fuel pump maybe OK but if the pump pressure is bad...blazer wont start. Pump runs about 300 plus labor. I've done it..It sucks
