My rear passenger sliding door (manual, not electric) handle is not opening the door from the outside (seems to not be catching) and the child safety lock was pressed into the locked position. Now we cannot get in or out of that door. Is there any way to at least get the child safety lock unlocked with tearing the door apart?

2013 ford grand cmax rear passenger sliding door won't open

There are several possible causes for a rear sliding door that won't open on a Ford Grand C-Max, including a malfunctioning latch, a broken cable, or a damaged handle. Here are some steps you can try to open the door:
  1. Try using the interior or exterior handle: If the handle feels loose or doesn't move smoothly, it could indicate a problem with the latch or cable. If the handle feels normal but the door won't open, move on to step 2.
  2. Check the child lock: Make sure the child lock on the door is not engaged, as this can prevent the door from opening from the inside. The child lock is usually located on the edge of the door, near the latch.
  3. Use the key fob: Press the unlock button on your key fob to see if the door will unlock and open. If it doesn't, move on to step 4.
  4. Check the fuse: Look for the fuse box on your Ford Grand C-Max and locate the fuse for the power sliding door. Check the fuse to see if it's blown, and replace it if necessary.
  5. Try manually unlocking the door: If all else fails, you can try manually unlocking the door by removing the door panel and accessing the latch mechanism. This can be a complicated process, so it may be best to take the vehicle to a professional mechanic or Ford dealer for assistance.
Overall, if you are not familiar with automotive repairs, it may be best to take the vehicle to a mechanic or Ford dealer to diagnose and repair the issue.

The left rear door is open on my 2010 Ford Escape, but the child safety lock is in the locked position and the door will not close. The key does not turn the child safety lock to the open position.

I am not familiar with the model but door mechanisms tend to be similar between makes and models and a thought occurs...

When a door is closed the catch is pushed over the striker and when it is fully home the catch latches and holds the door closed. That is what happens when everything is in good condition and correctly adjusted though sometimes some designs of catch can be defeated when the door is allowed to swing with insufficient force to close it, resulting in the catch latching in the closed position while the door is open and consequently the door won't close until the catch is released.

Many but not all door catches will reset when the door handle is operated - some must be reset using a rod or screwdriver mimicking the door striker while operating the door handle. The child safety lock generally immobilises the internal handle but leaves the outside handle and the catch/latch to operate normally.

If the door does not operate predictably as per the owner's handbook, you should assume there is an internal fault - mostly caused by maladjustment and/or a lack of lubrication.

Why won't my rear passenger doors open using the inside door handles but will open using the handles on the outside/

this indicates that the child locks on the rear doors have been activated
they are designed to prevent children from exiting the car unexpectedly and dangerously
when you have the door open check the position of the child lock on the edge of the door

My rear passenger side door will not close

Just use the outside door handle and pull on the latch that is closed. If you use the inside door handle then you will have to undo the child lock.
Pull on the latched that is closed while holding the outside door handle....Make sure that it is unlocked...

2002 Ford Escape left rear door will not open due to electric lock handle moved manually, would not reset, door open handle cable ok. Need to get panel off or recommend. If door panel needs removing, then...

Your rear doors have a child proof safety lock above the lock linkage, there is a turn knob, open the door from the outside and adjust, then the door will open from the inside now.

The rear passenger side door exterior handle will not open the door and the child lock is on which will not allow the door to be opened from the interior.

hi if you get a metal coat hanger open it up and put a hook on the end slide it down between the glass and the door by the door catch you should be able to knock the child lock off so you can open the door you have to get this just right and it can be a bit tricky but it does work

The locking mechanism on the rear passenger door isnt working. The door will close but the metal catch will not lock. How do i repair?

I have seen some times the latch assemblys get rusty or dirty and the inside or outside door handles are pulled and the latch assembly siezes in the open position not allowing the door to latch closed..but this may not be the case .. check to see also if the child lock switch position is not stuck in the halfway position, also check if the latch has not flipped to the close position before the door was closed thus jamming the striker latch..this can be fixed by pulling the catch out while opening the door handle..hope this helps good luck...

the child lock rod may have been extended...
open the driver side door, and with a skinny finger, push that child lock rod back in towards the rear of the sliding door
use the passenger side as reference
once you pushed it in, you can now open it from the inside handle

I have a 99 montana passenger side sliding door dont work. Hit either button all it does is clicks and motor seems to be fine.. I went to junk yard bought complete new motor and everything that comes...

I would check the overhead buttons there are two one opens the door, and the other beside it that shows the van crossed out, disables the electric sliding door feature. try playing with that, Also remember, that vehicle must be in PARK for the electric sliding door to open. Make sure the power lock on that door is working, and check the child safety lock when you have it open by the doors catch. Hope that Helps You.
