Sounds like your fuel injectors are clogged. or even your fuel filter.

If fuel filter is clogged how is the fuel makingit to the end of the fuelline

  • Anonymous May 18, 2011

Sorry. IDK what i was thinking lol. But yeah, it could seriously be dirty fuel injectors.

  • Anonymous May 18, 2011

Yes. To test your regulator, pull the vacuum hose off or the regulator. If you see gas come out of the hose, then you need to change the regulator. If no gas, the regulator is good. :)

I got. The throttle body apart its one of those spider injectors the salvage round here r sayin test the fuel pressure and wich hose goes to the regulator

'71 Ford F-350 one ton. Why does it only run when I put gas in carb?

Check for fuel at the carb fuel inlet if it has fuel lightly tap on the fuel fitting to unstick the needle from the seat. If I remember right there's a booster pump under he left side of the truck check to see if it's running and pumping fuel.

Why, when I ran out of gas, will it not start after adding 4 gallons of gas?

Hi,if the pump is working ok,I would say that there is some kind of blockage if you undo the fuel lineat the carb or injectors get a bottle and put the end of the line you undone into the bottle then get some one to hold the frottle peddle to the floor and turn the key, then you can see if the gas is coming through, give it a good fuew turns on the key,if gas comes through then put pipe back and turn should start,if not put air line on to blow eny blockage back into the tank, make shore the pump is working before you try this, all the best, hope this was some help.

Enith carburetor diagram

Nobody has messed around with the ignition timing in any way?

If it has stood for a long time(i.e years..) the fuel may have degraded to the point that it\'s useless.

The carbs will smell of fuel, but are you sure that fuel is being pumped to them in sufficient quantity? Try disconnecting a fuel line, crank the engine a few revolutions to see if fuel is pumped out.

Try gravity feeding the carbs. Use a can of fuel connected to the carbs, held above the engine. Get somebody to crank the engine and see if it fires up. If the engine fires up, suspect the fuel pump.. or fuel lines.

An air leak can also cause non-starting. The usual cause is the inlet manifold gasket. Any air leaking through the gasket can cause your non-starting problem. Go back and check that no dirt has been picked up by the gasket before you fitted it/it hasn\'t been ripped. Check that the inlet manifold has been correctly tightened.

It doesn\'t sound as though you have much of a problem .. more of a \'niggle\'.

1996 dodge dakota, used bad fuel, won't start

Pump the tank dry of the fuel using the electric fuel pump, just jump the fuel pump relay to get the pump to run and remove the supply line to the injectors and attach a hose. Use extreme caution around gasoline, no sparks, ground the container to the truck.

GMC 2000 sierra pick up 1500 sounds like it wants to start but won't turn over. Battery sounds good so I guess battery and alternator are ok. For several years fuel gauge doesn't work and...

It sure could be. But, first...by "won't turn over" you do mean it cranks at normal speed but won't start?
A simple test of the fuel pump is to stand by tank and listen as someone turns key to on. When first turned to on, your pump will activate for 2 or 3 seconds, pressurizing the fuel system, and then shut off if the engine computer doesn't get a cranking signal. Do you hear it come on? If not, then something's not turning your pump on. If you can hear it buzz on briefly, then maybe it's your filter. Another test: Spray a little starting fluid into your intake manifold (remove the big hose going into intake manifold) while someone tries starting it.If it doesn't fire and try to stay running, then it's probably an ignition problem. But if it does fire off, then you know it's a fuel problem-likely your pump or filter. good luck.

Motor turns over won't start. Cleaned terminals, put in new battery, still won't start. Removed gas cap to vent air on hot day, still won't start. Lights all come on, all electrics appear to...

Your problem may be one of the following:
First check or just replace the fuel filter. Usually located under the car in front of the rear axle, drivers side.
Next, the fuel pump may be worn out. Usually they get loud or stop working (running).
Next, check the fuel pressure regulator. Usually located on the front fuel rail, drivers side.
Is the vacuum line attached? Not leaking or rotted?
Also, do you smell a strong fuel odor when it won't start? May be one or more stuck-open injectors, or the coil pack is bad.
Checking these in the order listed will more than likely fix your problem.
The clicking noise indicates the battery can no longer run the starter, which also means the fuel pump won't run either.

It could be a fuel issue. How old is the fuel filter? Can you hear the pump run for a few seconds when you turn the key on? Try turning the key to ON without trying to start engine three times waiting for the pump to stop running each time. Then try to start the engine. If it starts, Its a form of Vapor lock caused by the extreme heat we have had lately, and a weak fuel pump.

If none of this works, try a new fuel filter first. From there have someone check the fuel pressure regulator and then the pump. If you are in need of a new pump, take my word for it and spend the money to get one from a Dealer, and not from your favorite parts store. Most parts store parts are made in China and they are JUNK.

Ran out of gas-truck won't start-replaced fuel

you probably have air in the lines, if you have a carb, spray some quick start into the carb and turn it over, if it starts and then dies when the starting fluid has run out, you probably need a fuel pump, since the running of the car should have blown out any air that was in the line, If your car is fuel injected, loosen the bolt cap at the end of the injector line that supplies the fuel,, and tap the key once,, ( don't start it,, ) just turn the key on and off 3 or 4 times, this should blow fuel out of that loose bolt head, if it does your getting fuel, if not, back to the fuel pump, also you can check this link, http://www.aa1car.com/library/us1296.htm

Car will not start at different times. New battery car turns over but will not start. If I put my foot down to the floor and turn the key it will start then most times. Did spray something in the carb...

The air intake is were you neighbor spray it.Here is a list of possibles=weak fuel pump=dirty fuel injectors=throttle positioning sensor=fuel regulator Valve=leak in fuel line=you could put some injector cleaner through it and change the gas to the higher octane ant the gas pumps for a couple of tanks that will help allot.

Gas not getting to the carburator. Starter turns

Check all of the fuel lines very carefully for breaks or cracks in the fuel lines, especially between the fuel tank and the fuel pump.

If the fuel lines are all in good condition then you can safely assume that the problem is in the fuel pump and you will need to replace it. (If the fuel pump is in really bad shape the engine oil on the end of the engine oil dip-stick will smell like fuel)
