I have a 2004 Saturn Ion- Transmission shifts great. Coming to a slow down at 15 mph I get a slight kick. Any suggestions?

I would have the rear suspension rubber isolation bushing checked for wear.

you might need a major tune-up...
and all the oil changes...
change the transmission and check if that works...
if after doing everything that i told you doesn't work...
then you might have a transmission problem!

Your going to have to get the car scanned for the DTC codes, Auto Zone and most repair shops can scan for the DTC codes but note Auto Zone scan free of charge. The DTC code will indicate the issues than needs to be addressed to get your car running 100% again. It cold be as simple as a dirty fuel filter and will need to be replaced, Note and dirty fuel filter will make the fuel pump work harder cause it to have a shorter life and the fuel pressure may be getting too low now for the fuel injectors to work properly. Have the car scanned for the DTC codes and replace the fuel filter which is recommend every 15,000 miles or once a year. Good luck and keep me posted.

A catalytic converter will do this if it is clogged up.

IF FIRST GEAR IS ALSO GETTING HARD TO ENGAGE IT IS MOST LIKLY THE CLUTCH IS WORN OUT.

Saturn says and I quote

there transmission fluid is not to be changed after the first change at 6000 miles.

Now I say it should be changed at every 30000 miles. If changing out the fluid doesn't work then you need to go to a transmission repair shop.

The problem is most likely on the transmission range selector switch, this is on th top of the transmission and has a multi-wire connector going to it, a shaft goes through it and the trans shift cable is connected there.
