Check Engine Code P1600 and P1433 for Hybrid

I have a Honda Civic Hybrid 2004 and my check engine light came on and stayed on for a day. I had the codes pulled and reset and it came back as a 1600 and a 1433. The check engine light came back on yesterday all day and then today when I got in my car for lunch it was not on anymore. I called the Honda Dealer to find out if it was a problem and he said he didn't know and I would need to bring it in. I want to have an idea of how much its going to cost before I take it in. Its going to cost be $125 just to run the diagnostic on there. There have been no adverse affects on my car's driving. Any clues or thoughts were I can get a better understanding of the codes? At Autozone it said for P1600 it is "Loss of Kam Power; Open Circuit". The P1433 code said A/C refrigerant temp. circuit low.

My check engine and IMA lights both came on. The check engine light stays on and the IMA light is usually off when I start up, then comes on as I drive.

AAMCO read Check Engine Code P1600 and P1433 for my 2005 Civic Hybrid. The check engine and IMA lights are on, but the car runs fine.

    Advice appreciated!

I have the exact problem described above with my Honda Civic Hybrid 2003.
The engine and IMA lights came on last month driving home. Interestingly, it happened while driving downhill as the car low gas light came on simultaneously even though I had 1/4 of a tank. Sometimes, both IMA and engine lights go away, then a day later the engine light comes on followed by IMA few miles later. I looked up the Codes P1600 and P1433 but there were no documentaion on what they could mean. I do also notice that my milage is worsing. Did any one find a solution! I appreciate any help.

AAMCO read codes P1433 and P1600 from the computer in my 2005 Civic Hybrid for free. They can't tell me anything about what the codes mean, only that they are "manufacturer specific codes". Now they say they need to do a "pinpoint test" to find out what components are bad - at a cost of $220.

Did you get your problem resolved? My dealer wants $175 to check it out.

Engine code P1600 and P1449

Hi:

The P1600 code is usually a IMA fault, and the P1449 code is a battery deviation fault.
Both are usually early warning of some sort of hybrid battery issues.
You need to have a system tech give the hybrid system a good look over, but most likely your IMA battery pack is most likely suspect

Engine code P1600 and P1449 what do they mean?

P1600 IMA system malfunction. A P1600 code is a generic code that is set in the engine computer to tell you that there is a Hybrid system problem. In order to find out what is wrong with the Hybrid system, you will need to take the vehicle to a Honda dealer so that they can read the code in that system.
P1449 Battery module, battery module deterioration, battery module overheating, battery cell overheating. Either way you need to take the car to a Honda dealership to find out the actual cause of the P1600 and replace teh battery module

Honda civic hybrid code p1433 and p1600

The P1600 is a generic OBD II code. It just means that a more specific code (Honda) has been set. To find the specific code you have to take it to the dealer or have a Vetronics Mastertech scan tool to get the actual code. The P1433 indicates thats the the main battery contactor or the by-pass contactor is staying active when it should not. Using an Actron pocket code reader will only read generic OBD II codes. Hope this helps.

Codes P1433 and P1600 on Civic Hybrid

those codes are thrown when there is a momentary hicup in the electrical delivery from the battery pack. clear the codes and drive it, if they dont come back you are all good, it they do come back then you most likely have a corrosion issue between the battery monitor system and the battery
