The trunk latch is operated by a solenoid which it requires power to operate. since the batery is flat then it won't work. I'm not sure where the positive terminal is under the hood but you can connect the positive lead to the alternator wire terminal, and the negative lead can be connected any where on the engine.
Good luck......

open glove box, read the users guide
if lost it is free from JAG dealer.
it cover all that.
and yes all cars on earth , the battery can be changed
with no damage done. for sure,100%
but you need to read the manual first.
and remove NEG LUG first
first off , last on.
cars with rear batteries have special rules for JUMPS
do not fail to read the manual or damage will happen.
cars with rear battery have a way to open trunk with battery dead, (all do) some are behind rear seat access others a cable latch lever to trunk lock.
SOME HAVE HOOD UP , JUMPER POLES

best is ask here, the manuals are hens teeth now. users. or buy one on line from scalpers.

Thanks Mike with my 99 Buick Century Limited. My 2000 Jaguar, Type-S the batter is located in the trunk and it is dead. How are you able to open the trunk. The remote won't work. How do I open it?

Use a slave battery and suitable leads or a jump starter to energise the car via the cigar lighter or by accessing the battery lead to the starter. Some vehicles with a boot or in-car mounted battery have a jump starting point in the engine compartment.

How to open the trunk if my car's battery is dead - aston martin dbs carbon edition 2012

Hi Wly, Jump the battery with one from another vehicle. If the battery is in the trunk there should be a jump connection under the hood. Never having seen one of these vehicles I don't know where, but I'm sure you can fin it. Connect the batteries positive to positive, negative to negative and then start up, but before disconnecting turn on the lights and the climate fan to full. If its the hard top also turn on the heated rear window. This is to alleviate the possibility of a surge damaging the control systems of the car....You may like to pass my home and let me have a drive? maybe not, I live in Africa! Regards John

My Battery is completely dead. I know the battery is located in the trunk. But, with no power, I can not open the trunk. So, how to open the trunk for 2006 BMW 750Li without power? And, if I have to jump...

You do not need to access the battery to jump start your 7 Series. There is a metal terminal under the hood for jump starting your car or jumping another car. It is located near the passenger at the rear and has a red cap with a PLUS symbol on it. Remove the red cap and attach the postive side of the cable. Attach the negative side to the large nut just to the left.

Also, to open your trunk manually insert the metal key in the key hole next to the button that you push above your license plate.

98 SL500 dead battery. Can't open trunk to get to

Hi Your S class has two batteries. The smaller one is located in the engine bay, and the bigger one in the boot (trunk). No need to access any of them, simply open the door with key, insert key to start engine, you will notice that not all ignition lights will come on, but the engine WILL start, and the batteries will be recharged after a short while.
