The electric motors that powered your seat to make it move in those different ways has now died so what you need to do is replace your electric motors underneath your seat and it will be working properly again
I will tell you, all depend what vehicle brand or what is the problem, usually there are buttons on the driver/passenger side, are the buttons no working? seat is not heating?
under the seat there is an engine to move seat back and forward, you must remove front cover to see this, together with many electrical components, switches, etc, sometimes this are dirty with poor contact.you may have to remove few bolts in the seat to turn it sideway and see properly., I am talking with not experience but with what I know.

Before you do any of the expensive things disconnect and reconnect the wiring to the seat I had the same exact problem with my 2009 Chevy Impala and was ready to take it to the dealer when I disconnected the power cables to it and reconnected them I found that one of the Harnesses was loose and the problem was solved
Wiggle the switch that controls the problem movement, if the seats moves or jitters a little the switch is defective and will solve the problem. If nothing happens when you do this simple test then go under the seat and probe the large wiring connector the power seat transmission, when you move the switch to rear seat travel position and see if any of the wires light up, if it does show voltage when the switch is toggled then the seat transmission may be at fault. I think you have a switch problem based on my expereinces but do the testing because the part is not cheap.
Electric or manual??? If electric one of the motors has gone out. If the kids were playing with it they may have held the button down causing the motor to spin while the seat was all the way foward and it will just burn the motor up after so long. Also the switch could be bad. Unfortunatley being that its power there is no way to manually move the seat back without the motor turning or removing the seat and spinning the motor sprocket by hand...
