If you drive the car quite gently all the time (ie don't really rev the engine high before changing gear), then when you do give it some acceleration it burns all the deposits in the piston chamber. All diesels will do this. Alex.
If you go up a slope, you need to give a the vehicle some shoot, or else it will loose the power to up..so in my case, driving gently is part of my driving, so I might not be really on pressing hard on my accelerator........
It is quite normal for a diesel that is driven gently all the time to cough out some smoke when driven driven a little harder.
